RayVer
It's weird how the mya vortex has so many complaints about thin glass when my Gyro has about 1/4 of an inch in thickness. I wonder why Mya opted for the thinner glass with the vortex. Edited November 20, 2007 by RayVer
New2Hookah
Dont see why it should ever be an issue...with any of their hookahs. After all these reports of vases cracking and breaking, down tubes rusting, etc etc, Im suprised people still go to them for hookah needs. As rayver noted at, Gyros seems to be one of the very few that are even worth looking at...

boulderkid303
Was a gift from a friend. I barley knocked it on the side of the sink and it cracked. I dont know how, this was barley a touch and it was after I had filled it up with water.
tinman
Hmmm....I have been smoking hookah for about a year and a half. My first hookah was some cheap Chinese knockoff. But after smoking that for a while and finding rust I decided to do some research. I then found the Mya brand at a local shop. I cant seem to find my setup anywhere as I think the shop pieced it together, but the base is definitely a vortex. I have had it for almost a year, with no problems ever...as a matter of fact I just picked up some starbuzz and smoked it Sunday night. I liked the mya brand and quality(some may disagree) so much I recently picked up a Qt and smoke out of that everyday.(tho the base does seem kind of thin on it, I have had no problems with either one.) Sorry to thread-jack, but I just wanted to chime in and say that not all vortexs are bad, as mine has lasted quite a while. Hope you get it straighten out, I would hate to see their customer service go out the window as it seems their craftsmanship has...-Russ
RayVer
i've accidently knocked over my gyro in the sink and not a scratch. Also I heard the vortex vases from older than a year ago were made in a different factory and were of better quality. I dont know if this is true or not but people have mentioned it in the forum. This might be the case. I'm glad I got the Gyro..that glass is real thick. shisha fan
the bases that are made in romania have the thin glass. some are more tricky than others, i have a bohemian with the new glass since a few weeks but haven`t had any problems with it so far. I think that they are just slowly becoming shitty based on glass quality, they smoke just fine, the shafts in my opinion are of great quality, my Mya stem is the favorite one i've had in a non-brass hookah. They are thick, and feel sturdy. But the fucking glass..... COME ON MYASARAY! Just cause your a China-Based company doesnt mean you need CHINESE-Grade GLASS! ZenSilk
Yeah but purging is mostly useful when your by yourself, i honestly never purge my Mya or JanR because someone is constantly hitting it. And i just meant Chinese-grade, not Chinese Made.

Loki
I just made some pictures of my QT base, it really looks thin in some places.Check out the edges, it really looks like it might break if you put it a bit too hard on a table. This one is new.. I read the older QT's have better glass. Anyone want to post some pictures to compare? Doesn't show too great cuz of the flash, but at the top it really gets thin. The thin partThis side looks ok.
