SmokingDjinn
How often should one clean a hookah and how should one go about doing this? Also, does anyone use a diffuser and what do you think of it?Djinn
ZenSilk
Use the Search feature in the top right corner. The diffuser makes the pull harder, but the smoke whiter and a bit cloudier.

The lemon juice kills the smell, and makes it nice and shiny. I did a little bit of dish soap too.On the diffuser, i just made one, go check it out in the How-To Funhouse. Works great, i put enough holes in it so the pull wouldn't be any harder. Smoke amount is much higher. More of the heated smoke touches the water, creating more vaporization (of the water), making a bigger cloud.

It helps break up the larger bubbles from the down stem providing a silent smoke. To be honest with you, I personally don't like it; I enjoy the calming bubbling sound of the hookah, and I can't say that the diffuser creates more smoke as it claims. hookah hippie
When it comes to cleaning, I like to use Vinegar instead of lemon juice. Vinegar is cheaper and I find it works just as wellI pour some inside the base and swish it around then i put some inside my stem and shake it for about 2 mins and then I wash my hose with it (be sure your hose is washable before attempting to wash)
