triolus
Hey everyone. I joined the forum a few days ago, and I've found a lot of great information here. Props to the mods and admins for setting this up for everyone. Now that the formalities are out of the way, I've had a question that's been on my mind for some time now. A while back, I picked up a 50 gram box of Al-Waha Guava, and liked it so much, I went back to the store for another one. After I burned through that pack, I decided to take a leap and order a 250g tub of the stuff. When it arrived, I eagerly opened the package and loaded my hookah. It tasted AWFUL. The flavor seemed altogether different, very strong, and with a "medicinal" overtone (I had the same taste out of a 250g tub of Al-Waha Double Apple that I ordered at the same time). AFAIK, nothing else changed. I tried "acclimating" the shisha by setting it out all night. Has anyone else noticed a difference between the flavors in the 50 gram boxes versus the 250g tubs? Is it possible that I got some bad product? Too fresh, or perhaps too old? Thanks for the help, all.
ZenSilk
Actually, yes. In terms of AW, the 50 grams seem to be better than the 250's. After Nine for instance. I loved that stuff from the 50 gram, but when i bought the 250 the chocolate flavor tasted dirty and the mint was very weak. I have had AW guava, and i think it is greata s well, it was from a 50. Now, before people say check the date, i did, it was an '07 date. I also noticed this with AF, onlt reversed. Af tubs seem to be better than 50's. Geiseric
If anything, I have found that boxes tend to have worse flavor. Could be just a bad batch. It happens.*Edit* This is a general statement, I have only had tubs of AW. But with every other kind I have had, it was the other way. But Zensilk seems to know what he is talking about. Weird though, wonder what causes this? Perhaps they process it differently? Stock is shifted more often with the 50sIf it helps, I have found AW to go bad very quickly. It tastes fairly good the first week, then it tastes like someone shoved a bar of dove soap in my mouth. RayVer
ive experienced the exact opposite..50g box being worse than 250g tubs
Sonthert
You hear that about booze, too. Bottles of booze are filled from casks/tanks with the 750mLs, the 1.75L, the 1L, then the smaller sizes. Some people contend it makes a difference. It may in tobacco or booze, depending on the quality of the processing procedures. Thats why Tangiers makes everything fresh, 2Kg at a time, to minimize changes like that. PirateNinja415
i've had bad experiences with 50g boxses. I had romman's and havana's 50g shisha, and it wasn't as good as the 250g tubs.
tj154906
For me, typically, the tubs are better. The one exception would be AW Double Apple, which was great when I had a box; The tobacco in the tub has too much anise flavor for me.
sheeshabum
no doubt in my mind, the bigger the tub 250grams,500grams or (I wish) 1000 (kilo)-the bigger is always the freshest available from the company that you order from. I always taste the difference smoking 250gram shisha rather than the 50gram it prpbably sits around later at the manufacturer and at the retailer online. My favourite gram ammount to buy is GRAM Parsons ( R.I.P .)these last 34 years, the famous country artist of Country -Rock innovater from the Byrds,Flying Burrito Brothers and 2 great solo albums (introduced EmmyLou Harris's first recording)http://www.gramparsons.com/

NoDeadBodies
layalinas 50g boxes suck in comparison to the 250 g tubs, thats all i can attest for
ZenSilk
I agree with that, i got Layalina Watermelon to sample, and it was just..not good at all. And then i came across a 250 of it and tried it out, the flavor was pretty fantastic, and the difference between the 2 was large.I htink it's best to go with 250's. Then if you don't liek it, you sell it here for a little less than full pricce, because someone is bound to like it on here.
