MonkeyBiz
I bought a Mya several months ago, and I've been having a lot of heat-related problems with it. I started with Starbuzz and natural coals, and then moved back to Al Fahker and Golden coals, and it's the same problem. No matter what I do, the shisha burns like crazy. I've tried different water levels, different coal arrangements, different shisha amounts, and it's the same problem. For the record, before this one I had a large Rotator. Anyone have any advice? Erica
what Mya pipe do you have?
Canon
break up the coal and put it on the edge of the bowl, then work your way inwards, if you have a wind cover use that for heat management if the shisha isnt hot enough with the coal on the edge
RayVer
yeah which Mya hookah do you have? What bowl? What hole pattern? How are you loading the shisha?Hard to help without all these details
HookahDude831
leave more space inbetween the foil and shisha, use a little less coal, and pack lighter bowls. maybe check your water levels too..
gaia.plateau
QUOTE (HookahDude831 @ Nov 24 2007, 04:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>leave more space inbetween the foil and shisha, and pack lighter bowls. This was my inclination.
ZenSilk
Umm, what would this have to do with the Mya?? It's a heat management issue obviously.
cymptom
It's probable that your Mya has better suction than your old rotator... if that's the case, you won't need as much heat for the Mya as you did for the rotator. That's the only way I think the hookah could affect that aspect of the smoke -- your rotator didn't pull as hard, so you needed more coal.
MonkeyBiz
Here's the Mya:http://www.myasaray.com/store/item.asp?ITE...EPARTMENT_ID=42I fill up the water to about an inch above the end of the stem.I use 2 coals, generally. Either both on the sides, or one on the edge of the other.I'll experiment and get back with you.
ZenSilk
Use one coal then. and rotate it. Or get a phunnel bowl. That'sa prreetty common Mya stem, the same as i have i believe. i have no problem with it. from what you've explained, i'd say either too much heat, too much shisha, too many holes in the foil. btuner
yeah try only poking about 10 small evenly spaced holes, that usually does the trick for me if its burning
mathuv
make sure your coals are properly ashed over before you put them on the bowl, i used to have the problem of burnt shisha and i thought it was my coals but i was at a shisha cafe and he used the same coal, he burnt it with a blowtorch till it was greyed over (instead of a blowtorch just fan it) other than that i dont know what it could be. its a heat management problem. mellamobunny.
another possibility which would be specific to mya would be the stem. if you're using a lebanese stem for the first time, it'll take a while for you to get used to the much tighter seal.also, i would recommend never leaving a gap between the foil and the tobacco.
