JillyIsJustKidding
Okay this is what happened yesterday:I was driving and an intersection came up. I thought the light was going to change from green to yellow so I stopped a little bit. But then, it stayed green so I went and sped up and all of a sudden...TWO FLASHES!I was freaking out! They only went off when I was in the middle of the intersection and when I was leaving it.It was a GREEN light so I have no idea what set it off!BTW the lights where in my EYES in front of me...I heard that means that they caught someone in the opposite direction, not me. And I also heard that they can't flash it in your eyes anyways if you were in trouble (it friggen blinded me!)SOMEONE please give me some insight! It wasn't even my car, but my brother's!I was going over the speed limit once I was in the intersection, but I looked up online and it said that intersection doesn't have any speed cameras, only red light cameras...And my light was a GREEN light and I'm VERY sure of it! EvansLight
quite possibly was someone going the other way, or cross ways. But it could have been a speed camera, dont beleive what you read online. Near where my sister works theres a combination of red light and speed cameras. You learn to slow down right as you get to em.and off topic, paramore is awesome
ASUSEAN1
all i know is fuck all the speed cameras and light cameras around AZ.. although i wouldnt ever pay the ticket tht comes from it1. it is illegal for an outside company to make money on a speeding ticket2. some guy might come to your door and make you pay, jus dont answer it3. the speeding ticket will still go on your record but hey u didnt pay the fine 4. this is from personal experience. i wouldnt base your actions off of this or take this advice but it has worked for me and a couple friends

The only warning there is "Warning: Red light Camerea enforced" or whateverIt was really weird because it only flashed twice while I was in the middle and I kno for sure they flash right when you cross the white line...And it was GREEN! Ahhh! I'm freaking out bc my brother doesn't know I drove his car >_<
HookahDude831
i have those by my house, i have watched them go off when no one is near or in the intersection, i think they are just fake ones that flash randomly.
Johnny_D
Red Light cameras can [and do] Record your speed. Were you speeding?JD
JillyIsJustKidding
Yeah I was going over the limit, but I slowed down first and then went :\I live in California, USA and my city only has one speed camera and it wasn't the intersection that I got "flashed" at. It makes no sense b/c it flashed when I was in the middle and it was green. I've passed that intersection many times and I've only seen people get flashed when they go through a red light, not speeding Edited November 26, 2007 by JillyIsJustKidding
BrotherBuford
Red light cameras are a moneymaking scam (like speed cameras and, well, speed enforcement in general), but they also are a safety hazard that cause rear-enders due to folks slamming on brakes to avoid the ticket. Damn things ought to be illegal.

JillyIsJustKidding
Now when I think about it, maybe someone on the other side passed the white line when they were supposed to stop at the red light.Because I while I was in the middle, maybe they tried to pass by behind me (wouldn't doubt it because maybe this friggen jerk decided to go. The street I was driving down was deserted and most likely this idiot decided to go and after I passed!)
JillyIsJustKidding
I found an article on one of the intersections I was driving on:http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=...&id=4717749It only says red light cameras, no speed! The only intersection by me that has both red and speed cameras is:Balboa Boulevard and Vanowen StreetI happy its there because it was by the school I used to go to...Since people who drive there drive like friggen maniacs! ghostofdavid
These are illegal. Why are we allowing our government to continue installing these devices? They don't slow people down, just bill them for their bloated spending. Cincinnati just installed a few.
ASUSEAN1
it is only illegal if an outside company is making money off of them. In AZ they had to take out the ones that a company owned, who would take 50 dollars of the ticket and give 25 to the PD Edited November 27, 2007 by ASUSEAN1

Bulldog_916
We have a couple of those in our area. I'm usually pretty careful about watching the lights and gaging if I can make it or not. If I'm not sure, I stop anyway. I hate those cameras, it's just another sign among many that big brother is working harder and harder to run our lives and track our lives. Pisses me off to no end. BrotherBuford
The best way to cut wrecks at intersections is to increase the length of the yellow. It has been done before, with expected results, but it cut into the city's revenue stream from the red light camera so they hated it. Kind of really sheds light on why they do it - it's not about safety, it's about $$$.

Erica
I dunno if someone has answered your question yet... but I have been flashed a few times... and have never gotten a ticket.. Sometimes they just go off... they then look through every single freakin picture and see if your front tires where over the cross walk and also have a picture of the red light at the same exact time.. If you know the light was green.. your not going to get a ticket
Christama
My dad got one of these tickets about two months ago. He sent the ticket back with the box that read "Registered Driver was not driving at time of infraction." About a week later he got a letter from the court saying the case was dropped. anathema
When I was in Australia, it was worse than here (California). If you go 3 miles over the speed limit and cameras are around, you get hand slapped with deducted points and fines (after like 3-5 times of deducted points you lose your license).Cameras can either be at intersections or regular streets or freeways. They also have these barricades set up sometimes, sometimes in freeways I've heard, to test your blood alcohol level randomly.
