netstorm
I am looking into buying another hookah, I really like the looks of the modern espresso hookah.Has anyone used it? I'm wondering if it's actually as good as most of the middle eastern ones.

oino
I can get that shit for like a 3rd of the price at the market but I got the HookaHookup from an Arab pipe wholesaler who I know. You could something way better than that thing for that price. Sorry I really dont like the look of aluminum hookahs they look like shit if you ask me. Get a traditional one not that ugly dull thing. Buy a KM they blow that shit out of the water. seriously you could get something way better look around. Edited November 27, 2007 by oino

Sonthert
Its a rip-off of a Taqseem StarGate. Yash is the man to ask about Star Gates. I would not buy one because those are a prime example of Chinese theft of American (Or Taqseem's) ideas. We send good stuff over there to manufacture, then there are two or three rip-off guys selling dead duplicates of them. There are two associated problems:1. The seal between the acrylic part of the jar and the metal part of the jar often leak. The glue doesn't quite seal all the way around and the conical shape of the jar makes the leakage worse.2. They seem to have rusting problems. I believe them shank is made of metal that rusts (Steel...iron?) and coated with a thin coat to protect it...it doesn't last long and the shank will begin to rust. The good news is, the shanks are stackable, so you can make a limitlessly tall hookah. I put one together that was a special order for a guy with three (Four?) main tubes...it was almost 6' tall. It was pretty cool.

It was pretty cool.I would like to clarify that the Taqseem Stargate hookah is a Chinese rip-off of a design which originated in the Middle East... and so is the Espresso hookah. Fumari has carried the original Silver version design before it was ripped off by a Chinese manufacturer. I think that a few people are guilty here. Whether it be by ripping off an original design or claiming to have come up with a design that is not theirs. In my opinion, the Startgate is as much of a rip off as the espresso is, yet they are both attractive in their own ways.Hookah designs are being ripped off all the time. Many of the Chinese hookahs were based on Syrian models. So just go with what you like and what you feel comfortable with. I don't mean to bash on anyone but I think that there are many misconceptions in the hookah world and much of it has to do with false advertising.George E. New2Hookah
Dont get the Espresso...nor the Stargate. Save yourself the money and the agony of it breaking (where Sonth described) or rusting. There are some hookahs out there with modernish designs...and that are 438.6% more reliable. ZenSilk
It's a rip off. Ohh.. Eric already said that... yeah sorry. Umm, don't buy a Stargate anyway unless you like the look alot. Go for a nice traditional hookah, or even a Mod hookah that isn't made to Razzle Dazzle 'em.
