JillyIsJustKidding
I just got my Tangiers-Orange Soda from H-S yesterday.I acclimated it for 6 hours yesterday. After I did that, I packed the bowl to them brim on my small phunnel, 4 easy light jap coals opposing eachother. At first two puffs, there was huge clouds and great taste. After that, it got way too harsh so I took 1 coal off. After that, there was little smoke and no taste.I retried it again today. Did everything the same expect I only used two coals opposing eachother. Again, good clouds and great taste at first, and then it got harsh! (little smoke)(For both of them, I poked the holes for the foil like this:One big one it the middle, a row of big holes at the edges, and then a row of holes in between themWhat am I doing wrong? JillyIsJustKidding
Okay, I packed more tobacco. Then, I added another coalAt first, it had way more clouds and wasn't harsh. And then it became harsh so I took of a coal (plus and I had a mean ass cough attack! lol) After that, no taste, or clouds...but a messload of harshness! Canon
once it starts smoking well try taking all but one coal off, also if you have a wind cover use that for your heat management, when the smoke gets light, put that on.
MechAnt
Try packing it in a standard bowl. It took me quite a while to get the phunnel down so I started with the standard bowl (still smokes fantastically). After packing that really well, I started with the phunnel and it was perfect. Scoop
still underpacked. you can overpack the living crap out of the bowl and it will smoke, where as underpacked is impossible to smoke
Sonthert
Hmmm. Here are my thoughts:1. Acclimation. Just because you acclimated it, doesn't mean its done acclimating. Its been getting increasingly dry here in SD, I assume its the same in SFV. Try throwing it in the freezer overnight with the lid off.2. Coal. I think 3 True Japanese quicklights is enough. If they are Chinese or Syrian Rip-offs, 2 may do. 3. More Tobacco seems to be in order. We cut it so that its properly packed when its as tightly packed as it is in the bag. 4. Don't discard the juice. Stir before each use...if possible.

Canon
Try putting a piece of coal in the center of the bowl (using the phunnel bowl) and the 2nd peice at the very edge. that works aswell, esp if it gets harsh to begin with.
boulderkid303
flip the coals!!!!!!!!! Coals will go out on the side facing down after 1min or so. Flip em and start it up, then flip em one more time and ur set!PS-Tangiers should only take 2 coals max, make sure your holes are the size of bigfoot! Just make sure there completly lit. And as for the two coals.. maybe if there quick lights.. but the easy light japs are small little guys.. i use three on my phunnel for any shisha, triangle around the edges. boulderkid303
depends on the coals you use.....the crappy knock off japs always do it. As do exotica's sometimes which i use 95% of the time now. I don't think anyone on here besides me and asusean really use the massive hole method. I would say to everyone to try it as it provides the best results.QUOTE (iamscott06 @ Nov 29 2007, 06:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>QUOTE (boulderkid303 @ Nov 29 2007, 07:10 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>flip the coals!!!!!!!!!
