roadie
Hey everyone, I'm brand new to hookah smoking, I've been smoking a pipe and cigars for a long time and just recently purchased a hookah pipe from a local shop out here in So. Cal. I had a few questions that I didn't see in the newbie section:My hookah is a modern looking pipe which has a solid steel stem, and a thick plastic heavy duty vase. Does the plastic make a difference or is it better to be glass? I liked the plastic because you can't break it. It's really well built.I have the Japanese quick lites, how long does it take to typically light them and get them ready? What's the silver coating for? How many do you use to start? I have the Balla tobacco, but am going to purchase the Starbuzz. Thx!Also, I'm used to some resistance in the draw from a cigar or pipe, I tested my pipe and it's airtight, but it's hard to get any resistance at all. Is it supposed to be "resistance free"? I've experimented with screens, foil, double foil, different hole patterns, sizes, packing tobacco more/less, etc. What's the norm? ZenSilk
ACrylic is just a different style. It's sturdy, you're right. I love mine. It takes me about 1.2 -2 minutes to get Jap coals fully lit. It is suppose to be relatively effortless, one of the many joys of hookah smoking, in order for the smoker to just relax. Have the water level at about 1/2"- 1" above the tip of the downstem. roadie
What's the silver coating for? And how many coals do you use? I figured it would be easier to place 3-4 coals spread out than having to move them all the time.........is there a drawback to this?
hookah hippie
The silver makes them light easier be sure to scrap it off before placing on your bowl
