Elky
Hey, just a thought, would one of the pannels from a hair straightening iron work? It stays at heat untill you turn it off. I dont know exactly how hot it gets but it can sure burn a finger pretty bad. The heat is adjustable and also nice ones are made of ceramic so it shouldnt spoil the flavor. Cybersist
I have seen some people try to come up with a rig, but no success. I would be very interested in your final product
RayVer
I actually wrote up a plan for an electronic coal that i'm 75% sure it would work. It something I will work on in december.QUOTE (Cybersist @ Nov 30 2007, 09:41 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I have seen some people try to come up with a rig, but no success. Canon
i was thinking about the electronic coal.. a good way to turn it on is to have a little button or something that when pressed in turns the devise on and when it isnt pressed it turns off. that way when your done you can flip the coal over and it cools on its own. Loki
I wonder how long a battery would last when used for a heating element. To create this much heat with something electrical will use a lot of power.

clickhea
how would you have a button on a coal thats suppose to get hot enough to heat the tobacco without melting the button off it
MikeMike
That stone idea seems really neat, although it's not as simple as an electric heater to use i really like the idea. Think about it, no ash, it's reusable and i would think there would be no taste!
leadpipecinch21
yeah, but think about heating up a stone hot enough so that it's going to stay hot enough to produce smoke for over an hour...the stone would have to be extremely dense, dense enough not to allow for major heat loss quickly, then think about how you'd heat it up. you could toss it in your oven for oh, 2 or 3 hours on 350 heat, toss it in a fire for an hour or two...really uneconomical. cool idea, but just not practical.and another problem with the stone and the electric heater is the heat. think about it...when you pull on a charcoal it heats up a lot to create the smoke. with a constant heat source you're at a level that will always be capable of producing smoke. this will lead to your shisha either burning or drying out much much quicker...just a couple things to think about. if you can produce something that works as well as a coal i'll be the first to buy it, but until then, i'm going to remain wary...
