How Do You Get The Smell Out Of A Hose?

Recommended Posts

what I found is basicly if it is washable thats the only real way. one of my buddies used to take a spray bottle with lemon juice in it and spray it into the tip of the handle but all it did was add a lemon scent to the smell insted of getting rid of it. usualy I just replace my hose when it gets to bad.

I'm sure you've seen other people talking about washing it, then pressure drying it with air. I don't know, I've never done it. I would think that even that might cause damage. I typically don't buy them for that very reason. I smoke too much, therefore my hoses need to be washed constantly. The only non-washable hoses I own are the ones that come with my hookahs, which I replace with washable hoses. I have one Egyptian hose I would seriously think about doing that with, just because it is a really nice hose, but I don't have a air compressor, so I would have to bum someone else's, so it hasn't happened as of yet

I certainly wouldn't recommend febreezing the hose though, it uses lipids as a method of sticking in your nostrils, covering the stench that you dislike. Aside from the unpleasantness of the thought of constantly inahling lipids, I can't think that it would taste very good. Edited by Geiseric

You should always have a couple of hoses. I personally have 2 washable hoses, 1 for mint flavors since it WILL destroy a hose in a heartbeat, and 1 for fruit flavors. If I liked coffee flavors I would have a 3rd designated just for that. To answer your question, you wont be able to get the smell out of a non washable hose.

any ideas? i dont want to wash it, i was thinking about spraying febreeze in it, it would smell nice and probably add to the buzz huh.gif

do i just use lemon water? what do you guys do?

To be honest, if it's gotten to the point of 'having to wash it' then it's probably shot to hell anyways.

I used to just blow out my hose and then hang it up. But if you get a 4 months constant use out of a non washable I think your lucky.

Just bin it and get a true washable. Nammor springs to mind.

easiest way is to buy a nammor biggrin.gif

but where? most places seem to be out of stock on nammors.

Everyone is getting restocked just about now. H-S ought to be shipping mine out either today or tomorrow (two green ones with matching covers).

bro i feel you on that. Ive been waiting for 2 weeks now..... Ive been calling everyday for the past 2 weeks and they keep telling me "we're expecting it to come in tomorrow..." As a matter of fact, i just got off the phone with them and they said next couple days and whoever preordered, gets priority first on stock supply.

Interesting. Was it a rather old hose, or fairly new?

Maybe a month or two old, and I smoke at least once a day.

I've found the best way to dry out a hose that I've washed is to swing it around so that centrifugal force causes the water to fly out. I look absolutely ridiculous when I'm doing this in my yard, but it tends to work. Of course I'm also probably tearing up my hose...

I do that too, but I blow on one end while I do it, and then I hang it up after. But that is with washable hoses, and I think what those that put forth this method were going for was an extremely fast dry, as to not damage the hose(of the unwashable variety) with water. I'm not saying it works, I don't know, haven't tried. I've just seen it said a few times on the boards. Edited by Geiseric
