Texico
First some background info on myself. I've been smoking out of hookahs for about half a year now, but I greatly enjoy it. I've smoked out of a QT, some other small hookah, and a hookah bought in Saudi Arabia, in addition to various hookahs at the local hookah bars. Now I'm looking to buy my own, and I come to you all for advice. The current hookah that I'm interested in is this 26" Egyptian Shiek Hookah from hookahkings.com which can be found here.So basically what I want to know is would it be a good purchase sure to last for quite a while? I didn't find any reviews on it or any mention of this hookah on the vendor page. I've been reading up on the forums and I will get a nammor hose to go with it, too. MagicHookahs
Hello, I think that your choice of first hookah looks pretty good. I would be careful, it appears to be a very cheap stem material. I doubt it is actually made in Egypt. It will work well, but I wouldn't expect it to last long.
Geiseric
Go Syrian or Mya. You should be able to find a syrian of equal or greater value for that price. Unless you for some reason prefer egyptians, they are kind of meh. Edited December 3, 2007 by Geiseric
iamscott06
KM/Mya/Syrian.. all good choices in my opinion.

MrMoodz
Are there any hookah shops, smoke shops, hookah lounges, or Arabic Grocery store near where you live? I suggest you buy a hookah in person so that you can see and fully examine the hookah before you buy it.
New2Hookah
MrMoodz has a good point. If you find a local Arab or Middle Eastern shop, look there. Usually the owners are very open about price negotiations.
Texico
Ok, I understand the concerns about the stem material. The only shops that I am aware of in my area are the Gas Pipe and Dragon's Breath. I'm not sure though, I'm just north of Dallas, TX. The main thing is that I want to buy medium size hookah that comes with a carrying case/bag. I just would prefer to spend no more than $100, but if that is not possible to get a quality piece then I guess I could spend more.Mya's are a little too expensive for my blood. I haven't been able to find KM on the web, though. It stands for Khalil Mammoon, right? Also, is Syrian a brand or just a style? I'll look at the different vendors listed in the reviews section, but which would be a good site to purchase a relatively inexpensive quality hookah from? New2Hookah
If you are based in Texas, contact J & R Hookahs. Here is their site:www.JandRHookahs.comFor me, so far, he has had the best pricing on everything he carries. Customer service is excellent. He\'ll make things right for you no matter what. Texico
Alright, thanks for all of the responses, guys. oolatec, thanks for that link. I knew that I had seen some Syrians on socialsmoke some time ago, but I couldn't find them for the life of me the last few days since they aren't on the drop down menu. I think that what I will do is go with the 25" Syrian from socialsmoke and a carrying case for it. Then, in a year or so once I have more money, I think I'd like to get something like the J&R 26" Syrian.Although, does anyone know what is included with the purchase of a hookah from J&R? The description doesn't mention anything like shisha, coals, tongs, etc.
Canon
if your getting a hookah, you def. want to spend a good 40+ dollars on coal and shisha.

New2Hookah
I second calling Jimmy from J & R Hookahs before you make your final decision. He is known for throwing special packages together for people. Real nice guy, really honest and friendly and willing to do anything for his customers. I read at another place that he has 22\"-24\" Syrians that he doesn\'t show on his site. Maybe one of those will suit you? Just ask, it doesn\'t hurt... bunnymud
I started smoking hookahs about a month ago and got the QT off the bat.
