KillZedKill
Ok, so some friends and I went on a trip to San Francisco on tuesday, we spent most of the day on Hiaght street, for amoeba records, and the headshops and etc.Anyway, my buddy and I went into a hookah store that also had a little lounge in the back, we figured we could smoke a bowl and hang out. We sat down, talked to the guy for a few minutes, and found out that it was 15 bucks, for a bowl. ONE bowl, and 7 bucks for additional shisha. We tried talking them down to 11 bucks, and one rubber band, but no dice.I've never really been into a hookah bar of any kind, so is it always like that? I have a feeling they were just there to exploit the area, it is a huge tourist spot.
Johnny_D
I have often found that a quick 'You are having a laugh I am not paying that 'and turn around and head for the door.If they want your business they will soon turn around and offer it at a better price,or be prepared to walk!Kinda calling there bluff.JD

mushrat
Well, I imagine rent aint cheap at that location, but that's a little steep. Wonder what kjind of tobacco they use?
nicayotte
THE place around my parts is $15 for a hookah with 2 coals then every 2 coals after is $1. No tongs included so A u burn your fingers or B hope they were placed right 8-(
Doubon
It's $18 for a normal bowl, $24 for "premium blended shisha" and $35 for a watermelon base hookah at this hookah bar in south beach named D'Vine. Pretty understandable, I'm sure their rent is high but they seem to be doing fairly well. Anyways, if you go with a group of 3-6 people it shouldn't be too expensive. Cheese//
You can buy a decent hookah in South Africa with less than $
MrMoodz
Those are steep prices. I know local hookah lounges/stops around Phx/Tempe, AZ, that charge $5.00 for fumari, $7.00 for fusion or pharoh's, $8.00 for AF, etc.
Texico
I think it all depends on where you live and how popular it is. The two hookah bars just off campus here in Austin both charge $12-$15 per bowl. The one that I usually go to, just up the street from my dorm, charges $15 for a bowl but comes with unlimited free coals (and you don't even have to ask, they just bring them out; they're watching you... ). I only go when I'm with at least a couple other people, so in my opinion it's worth the price. They have comfortable couches, too...
camelflage
yeah, the only real reason to go out is the atmosphere of the lounge. around here its anywhere from 12-20 bucks depending on brand.

PirateNinja415
SF's just a really expensive city. i'm sure u can find a cheaper place in SF, but Haight's a pretty big tourist spot, so they probably get away with charging more.

It's like a headshop/hookah shop and they have about 4 or 6 tables in the back for hookah. I think they also sell their own tobacco. Anyway...that place is definitley expensive. And the smoke wasn't that good. The bowl was cashed and bitter in like 15 minutes. There's another bar/hookah bar called Kan Zaman that's pretty popular, went there last year and it was 10 bucks a bowl and 5 bucks per refill. They're usually packed so the service isn't THAT GREAT, but they know their stuff.
guyt
Haight became completely tourist oriented. But they have some awesome hippies that are really fun to watch.

Canon
theres a hookah bar in atlanta that lets you buy a hookah after you spend $10 on food, if you want starbuzz or AF then it costs $20 dollars per bowl, other brands are 15. i was going to go there on my trip but i decided against it. RayVer
I was shocked last time I went down to miami to visit the parents. Most hookah bars down there charge $20 a bowl.
cloudS*****
-lol, In Fort Myers, our local shisha lounge called the Sahra Lounge is pretty awesome. They charge $10 a bowl (all they use is AF/Starbuzz), with $5 refills and all the free coals you can suck down. They have a small shop in the back, too, and EVERYTHING is below internet prices (becuase of shipping charges). AF samplers are $4, 250g tubs are $15, and a box of three kings is $15. I even bought my first hookah there (Mya Razo) because it was $65 out the door, with 2 free AF samplers and a free roll of three kings. H-S charges $70 plus shipping. thejoshman
yo im from that area. and what i can say is, hookah isnt that popular in the bay in contrast to say SD or a college town. but there are some hardcore places dont get me wrong.all the hookah bars in the SF bay area are overpriced, no good(except one in sf forgot what its called but its top of the line) and the service is shit. its nothin like tangiers! i LOVE LOVE LOVE that lounge!! JillyIsJustKidding
The hookah cafe I go to charges $15 bucks for a bowl. The price is pretty reasonable since they only use Starbuzz and nothing else. I'm not complaining because I love Starbuzz and the cafe gives great service
