erufiku
I gave in and bought some Nakhla tobacco, since that was all I can afford right now. Got a box of Peach and a box of Mint.Lots of woes with getting a decent smoke out of this... First, too little smoke, then for 5 minutes nice clouds and taste. After that it all goes downhill. Even if there's smoke, it's so harsh that I can't take it.Tried single foil/double foil, different heat management techniques (half of a 40mm Golden, then three quarters, etc, with and without windscreen). Pretty much the same result in all cases.Worst of all is the taste, especially on the mint. It has a wierd stale aftertaste which is too bad because the mint is nice and strong. Also noticed the peach's got some of that aftertaste as well :/ Maybe it's because the tobacco is too old? What do people think about this? Johnny_D
lol - Thanks Boulderkid Yer, Nahkla is a tobacco that takes a little work. What kind of coals and bowl are you using?Personally, I find that Nahkla likes a traditional bowl with a fair bit of heat. However if the tobacco is too dry and a little glycerine and honey. Maybe about 5g of Honey and 20g of glycarin to250g's of tobacco.JD

Tanel
Just had the same mixture of the two tobaccos a few hours ago, i used the ghetto funnel bowl made out of foil, and had two 40mm quicklites that i broke in half (put 3/2 on to start and then removed one half, others were for later) and i got very nice thick flavorous smoke the whole 1 hour 20 min i was smoking it. Also there were two people smoking. Didnt harsh up even once. Great mix.Maybe you started the coals on the bowl? Or you packed too much tobbacco in and it burned? I would have to say you packed too much in, or you had too much coal. At first it didnt get started, and when it did, it was too much heat. Maybe you should have taken some of the coals off when it got harsh. my 2cents Edited December 7, 2007 by Tanel

I'm also going to try with the few 33mm's that I have lying around. What about the stale aftertaste? Bad batch? Old tobacco?
Tanel
a drity pipe might be the culprit of that stale aftertaste. i clean my pipe before and after every smoke. Might seem alot, but i hate a smelly pipe. Edited December 7, 2007 by Tanel
erufiku
^^^I clean it after each session... And use baking soda to get the smells out once a week on average.Maybe it's the hose...?
anathema
the stale flavor is that taste of nicotine? There isn't any staleness to nahkla. And when I buy new brand, I'd first blame myself before I blame the tobacco.

UGAHookah
True my roommate smokes cigarettes daily and he gets a buzz from hookah. As for your tobacco I'm not sure its the problem. I've had the apple flavor before and it was pretty good...
erufiku
Alright... I finally got a semi-decent session tonight Mixed the two flavours, outcome not too fabulous cause I put in way too much mint. But it smoked. And it smoked pretty well.Still don't know where the problem was (is?). Before this one I changed so many things that it's hard to pinpoint... washed the hookah thoroughly (lemon juice for stem + baking soda for vase), single-foil only, packed it a bit different than I usually do, also made less but bigger holes and placed the coals differently. Important thing is that it works... However I still noticed that I'm getting roughly half of the smoke time I've had with Romman

joseph*
Nakhla doesn't tend to be as wet as other brands, and is definitely drier then Rommans. There are some Nakhla flavors that are among my favorites, such as their 2 apple and sweet melon. The main thing is to tinker with the amount of heat you are using. I find that I need a little less with nakhla then with Rommans. Good luck getting it to smoke better. Nakhla is one of the first brands of ma’assel, so it is definitely a classic. Tanel
A long shot, but maybe you have washed a non washable hose, and the cloth or whatever inside has some moisture still inside it?

I haven't washed my hose once. Besides, I think it's washable, it said so H-S central (it's the one that came with the MYA Bambino). I'm smoking Peach right now and it's pretty good so far
