It is my favourite by any company in terms of aesthetics, and H-S pipes are the most functional (multiple auto-seals, screw-tight grommets).QUOTE (ZenSilk)Syrians: They are usually brass (except H-S)I was actually unable to find a single brass Syrian on SocialSmoke.com... everyone that I looked at was steel, and over 1/2 of JandR Syrians are steel... hookahcompany, smoking-hookah, hookah-life, southsmoke, mostly all steel.Every Syrian that i looked at on SocialSmoke.com says Brass. And on JandR they are plated brass. Steels fine though. I think in Egyptian hookahs though, you NEED brass parts, so you can trust it wont be shiity workmanship. They are Egyptian hookahs after-all. wuonice
^because when you look at "origin" it says egypt. not syria.
ZenSilk
It's OK, ha. I mean to say, alot of Egyptians made everyday are made out of crappy ass metal, prone to rust harshly after maybe even 1 use. So why not just buy an Egyptian, hand-made still, constructed of Brass, Brass + Stainless Steel, Brass/Nickel Plating(Stainless Steel). When you plate Brass you just make it extra rust/oxidizing resitant. So Hell yeah. And it's much more durable than Stainless, keeping your hookah looking sexy wihtout dents and dings and whatnot. gaia.plateau
QUOTE (ZenSilk @ Dec 9 2007, 06:13 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>When you plate Brass you just make it extra rust/oxidizing resitant.Hmmm the research I did several weeks ago brought me to the understanding that Brass actually oxidizes much quicker than stainless steel, because it is a more reactive compound - it's just that brass oxidization occurs in tarnishing, which does not lead to corrosion as quickly as rust does in steel. So in the end, if you take care of a SS or a brass hookah properly, they'll both last, let's say, five years. If you care for them both poorly, the brass will outlive the SS but still deteriorate quickly.

New2Hookah
J & R do not have any SS Syrians. They are all Brass. Just different plating. As far as Brass vs. SS...Id go with Brass for all kinds of reasons, alot of them being discussed in this forum alot. I consider it a perfect setup. and it pays for itself when friends chip in money to smoke your stuff because your hookah is better.Talked to my bro, and told him to cancel the order and he said they told him it was OK. I really like that Mya Frost, but is it good the way it is when you buy it...also is there some kinda discount I can get on it?? Does it come with a case?? Do you have any pix of yours?it was great how i bought it. it came from southsmoke and then i ordered a medium and large phunnel bowl. i just ordered a nammor hose for it last night. ill take a pic for you then repost.and it came with a hard case so it was protected during shipping because they packed it all inside. you should be able to get a discount just check the discount page. if its not there then call southsmoke and tell them you are on the forum they always give me 15% off. thecoalition
i included the pic of the hookah and the threaded stem with the grommet. Now mine came with the grommet but the base is all glass and has no metal cap with threading like most mya's.I have had 0 problems with mine and i live it. It breaks down into 7 or 8 pieces so cleaning is simple. The base is wide so i never knock it down. With the phunnel bowl it stands at about 32 / 33" total. It has o-rings on every piece so it never leaks air. I absolutely love it and would not trade it in for anything. In the second pic i pulled the grommet down so you can see the threading is there. Normally the grommet is covering all those threads. djdriver88
Im super excited. Used to smoking from the ebay hookah that sucks, so this should be a great change. I plan to clean it after every use, and it should pay for itself. I told my friends that il be having weekly "parties" with HD tv, ps2, 7 speaker stereo (works with ps2/dvd), hookah, cards (i have a table and poker chip set), food, drinks, etc. so hopefully people will start chipping in some money and itl be good. Can I keep the hookah assembled when its out of use, as long as its clean and dry...I kinda would like to have it as a decoration in the offtime, but I duno if thats safe or not.Any cool shisha mixes I can try? specific blends for the water in the base??edit: forgot to use the discount code "hookahforum" when I ordered. Called them up, and they siad the 15% will be credited back onto my card so far so good, I expected something like "sorry you already placed the order" I couldnt be happier Edited December 10, 2007 by djdriver88
