Lakemonster
Figured I'd share something I did to my new syrian hookah to give the ball-lock a better seal. If you take the valve apart and remove the bearing, you will see the funnel like area that leads to the oriofice in the center. Take a Dremel tool with a pointed felt bit and use jewelers rouge to polish this area to a mirror finish. I noticed that I got a much better seal from the lock afterwards. The other thing I noticed is that the bearing gets dirty pretty fast and that changes the concentric shape of the bearing when crud is on it..... taking away from its sealing effect. I clean mine often.. or replace it. Instead of paying 50 cents or more per bearing, try these guys http://www.purvisbearing.com/ or the like. You can get several hundred of them for what you would pay for 10-20 otherwise. In a pinch a steel BB could be used. but they dont have a poliushed surface and will be prone to leaking.
