clickhea
i cant seem to get the heat correct at all ever since i started using these coalsi break the coals into about 4 even pieces, or as even as i can get them and place them outside the edges of my medium phunnel bowl.4 seems to be wayy to much, and 3 isnt cutting it.My holes are toothpicked size and i have 3 sets of rings going around the bowl, the holes on the very rim and the holes close to the mod are tooth pick sized while the holes in the middle of the other 2 rings are quite a bit smallerany suggestions? (btw i use a mod) and iam smoking starbuzz (till my tangiers comes in) Edited December 9, 2007 by clickhea
everydayshisha
Try using 2 circles of holes on your foil to keep the heat in. The best way would be to use a windcover + 3 pieces but as long a i know you ll have trouble fitting the cover over the med funnel. Also try putting the coal closer together istead of the egdes using 3 pieces of coal.Hope this helpsCheers
PirateNinja415
i break mine into thirds and use two of them, one sitting across the other
likespaceships
throw a windcover on it to heat it more.2/4 of a stick usually heats up the bowl fine for me.
mushrat
Ditch the mod.
iamscott06
Yea i think the mod requires you to need more heat, so use a windcover till it gets nice and hot. Or just ditch the mod
ZenSilk
Hmm.. I love my mod... I rest the coals on it, so there is a space between the coals and foil. It keeps the coals red hot. I use 3 coals at once, 3/4 of a stick.
EternalSoil
I used my exoticas last night for the first time and i didnt like them! maybe i did something wrong but i got a real bad coal type taste. i use 3K almost all the time and i have tried those starlight naturals and both the naturals have the same type of taste to them. i made sure the exoticas were red hot when i put them on too. any suggestions?? i used 2/3 of a stick. EternalSoil
thats what makes me think that i did something wrong... only thing i could think of would be that i light it with a propane torch a little then turn a fan on it or blow on it and let it sit. so possible the propane? Always. in all three different boxes. Wait, 4 if you count the Devils Playground free ones. So all 4 boxes give it off. That coal taste comes in when the shisha is burning, but when it comes in it's IN, i mean, hardcore coal-ass-shit-ashy taste, worse than burning shisha. And the bottoms of mine DO NOT stay lit when touching the foil, that's why i love the mod so very much, it creates air flow. But i agree, these coals don't seem to be living up to what everyone always says. I still love them, they are better than QL's, but hmm.... ZenSilk
I don't get crappy taste from Golden QL's either, but i don't use them because of their shape. They don't fit that well with a Mod and phunnel, and i'd have to use about 3 of them at once to get full heat. And in the freezing cold, they do not light correctly. I tried them 3 seperate times, they couldnt become lit all the way. But i don;t get shit taste either, and i though that was the point of Natural Coals.
