Geiseric
While cleaning my hookah, my roomate Pete walked by and I mimed throwing it like a spear at him, and told him I would smoke it from his lungs. He suggested I make it into a flash, so with his help teaching me how to use flash studio, I made my first flash, inspired by that comment. This is what I do to my enemies.hookah.swf - 0.10MB Edited December 10, 2007 by Geiseric
TheScotsman
Man, you got WAY too much time on your hands. It's a long winter... if you are driven to this already I can't wait to see your sanity level (or lack of) by March 30th!!!I love it.
Geiseric
The syncing got messed up somehow, I think Firefox lags a little when it plays flash animations. All the sounds are in sync with the video, except when he coughs, the smoke comes out a second later. It does the same in IE, so it must be the plugin. Geiseric
Thinking back, you're right, Scotsman, I spent way too much time on it. I spent about 4 hours learning flash studio, about 1 hour ripping and trimming the audio using audacity, and about an hour making the flash animation. My only excuse is I had no work and no homework all weekend, for the first time in as long as I can remember. I didn't know what to do! Then I was saved by a new project. Thats how I work, I work on things, amble about until I find a new task, and then devote myself to it until it is done. Now that I know how to use flash studio, I could probobly do all of it over again minus the audio work in about 20 minutes, but flash studio has a steep learning curve, it has lots of functionality hidden in arbitrary menus. iamscott06
Yea man flash takes a while to learn, but once you learn it, your pretty much good even if a new version comes out. Same thing goes with all those programs; CS2, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Illustrator. Nice Flash though, that things sweet I remember when i used to make stuff like that, maybe i'll see if i have flash laying around some where and practice a bit. Geiseric
CS3 is out, im just running 8, I think I will procure it by less than legit methods sometime today, but its gonna suck up my bandwidth for a while, so I've been putting it off. I was going to get it anyways for fireworks, becuase I like vector based editors (paint.net ftw).

Geiseric
CS3 is a general suite of adobe IPs, I'm getting it for fireworks and flash studio. I don't use photoshop at all.
TheScotsman
Adobe-anything is a PITA to learn. They took lessons from microshafty on making completely unhelpful help files. The worst of all to learn, for me anyway, was OrCad... Finding that developer in a dark alley with a baseball bat, and a jar of Vaseline full of sand would make me happy. (sick, eh?)
