thecoalition
Ok asked this in the wrong section so I got a world of pain and warnings for it so....Someone posted about their "syrian green and gold hookah" in the reviews section and added pics. In the pics the bowl was a female bowl. I was always taught that this style is egyptian and the syrian style uses male bowls. This of course, is in addition to the stem and base style but makes for a major part of what makes the hookah egyptian or syrian.Talk amongst yourselves. Johnny_D
QUOTE (SmokingDjinn @ Dec 12 2007, 05:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>http://www.hookahforum.com/index.php?showtopic=15621That thread does not really tell us anything.I'm not sure of the difference. I thought Syrian's had that male thing on the top, but over and above that i really am not sure.JD
SmokingDjinn
I read his original post in the review section and he was mainly confused with the bowl configuration, saying he didn't understand why it didn't have a male bowl, so I posted that thread as I had the same question not too long ago. spoolinspoon
why do I have a syrian that uses female bowls? I think the differance is really in the stem design/shape.
everydayshisha
Traditional syrians and lebaneese hookahs used female stems (the bowl goes into the stem). nowadays all the hookahs are standardizing this inta male stem to make them more compatible with all the accesories (funnels etc).Your most likely to get a male-stemed syrian nowadays than a female one.cheers
ZenSilk
The basic answer is, most Syrians now are modern, if you can find a traditioonal Syrian, it will most likely have a male-fitting bowl. But ont he internet al you will find is Female bowls, as that is the norm in regards to bowls.
joseph*
Male bowls were more popular, so it was harder to find a new bowl if you had a Syrian hookah, so now most all Syrian hookahs use a male bowl too. As far as I know, the main difference between a Syrian hookah and an Egyptian hookah is style.Edit: Made a silly mistake, fixed now Edited December 13, 2007 by joseph*
thecoalition
wrong. a bowl that sits in the stem is a male (think penis in vagina) a bowl that goes over the stem is female.
