Ooph
The exoticas got me in trouble originally. I lit it on my portable stove and smelled up the whole house. I told my parents I wont be using those in the house again, so now I have to find a way to light the Exoticas outside...maybe an extension cord that i can run out
Johnny_D
This is really weird. I've not noticed any smell from getting exoticas going. Period. At all!Smell free!JD
Ooph
Are you serious? it smells like charcoal....it sucks.....maybe it is the stove thats emitting that smell?
Johnny_D
Fo Shizzle one's Nizzle[1]Seriously though - no coal smell. I either light them using a propane blow torch -or- slowly using my halogen hob. Either way - No smell. And Mrs JD would soon make mention if they were the smellies.JD[1] I'm not entrely sure what that means.
waterboi
Mine was like that also when i was lighting mine inside. Roommate did not like the smell. Do you let the stove get extremely hot before you put them on or can you put the coal on while the coil is heating up? Inside I use quicklights Edited December 13, 2007 by waterboi
shisha fan
i had the same problem with nour coals. my parents thought i was using the fireplace, but now i use 3 kings which only smell a little after you`ve lit them. but i really can`t complain, my dad even likes to smoke a little when i get new flavors in. thecoalition
ooph:heres an idea if you have a window in your room. go to lowes or home depot and get an outside shelf like for an air conditioner to sit on. then just mount it and WALA! you have a new place to put your coil, just run the cord out the window and you can put your coals on and just shut the window

mushrat
I have to agree, the exoticas do give off a charcoal smell when they start. They also emit a fair amount of CO so light em in a well ventillated place.
waterboi
So if I light them outside then bring them in, will I still get the smell of charcoal in the house or will it be okay?
EternalSoil
nah, once they all lit you should be golden
SmokingDjinn
Should be ok. I light mine outside and I can't smell any charcoal, only the shisha scent. The Exoticas give off a little odor, but nothing like compared to natural coals, i lit a natural coal indoors and it set off the fire alarm. SmokingDjinn
Nah, it was Al Fakher lemon wood charcoal, the smoke alarm is real close to the stove, and it was just one peice. Fucker was blaring and causing all types of mayhem. Had to disconnect it till I got my coil burner.

Then it goes away and there is no taste while smoking
