Hookah On The Beach?

After having some hookah on a dock at a lake, I love the idea of sitting by the water smoking hookah. So it got me thinking, how about hookah on the beach (similar to how they do it in some Middle Eastern countries).

I have a propane blow torch to get the coals going and would use a windscreen to prevent the coals from falling off.

Only problems I can think of is that cops would probably hassle me (either about thinking it's a bong or that it's glass).

Anyone tried this before?

i wouldn't take th propane out there. the glass vase i can see possibly being a problem but its also not something you will be throwing away later or leaving there like beer bottles.

Wrap your glass bowl in some material. Will act as an insulator too

Would just using a mini torch lighter to get the coals started work? I've been able to get coals going in about 1 minute using my propane torch (I use it for loosening up stuck bolts when working on my car's suspension), it's pretty compact.

Can't imagine the coast being a good hookah location (what with all the sand and such), but I do like to smoke the hookah whilst watching that big, bright ball in the sky slowly turn orange.

Also, why not just take instant lights for the occasion? It's not THAT much of a sacrifice now is it?

This is what i use for all my coal lighting needs, even the ql's light a lot quicker and get red faster using this. its wind proof and child resistant. also refillable with butane. has a handy gas +/- dial on it as well. Fits in the hand well with rubberized grip.

Well, here in San Francisco cops are not too bad as far as things go. Plus if you explain to them what it is they will usually go away. We have special zones on Ocean Beach here in SF that are designated for bon fires, so I figure a little hookah won't bother them.

My school is one of the only schools in the united states that owns its own beach and there isn no real public access allowed. I go out there and some with some friends and lady friends all the time. Everyone knows what it is and always wants to take a hit. Lots of fun and really chill. I'd highly recommend it for a great afternoon with some friends. Use quicklights because they are a million times more convenient let alone with all that sand around. 3 Kings or Pharaoh's Golden Elites all the way.
