JillyIsJustKidding
Some of you may remember that I've posted a few topics about how I still couldn't get Tangiers to smoke right....And I still can't! Lol and its been like 7 bowls already!Last bowl, I KINDA did! First few puffs: nice and thick. A little bit tingly in my throat but it didn't bother me too much. Also, the Orange Soda taste was AMAZING for those first few pulls, especially the buzz...Then after those great pulls...The taste was GONE and then the harshness and the smokey taste came back!!! ahhhhWhat am I doing wrong?!?!?!(I was using an egyptian clay bowl. It seems to be the only bowl I can be able to make it work for a little while...)BTW: Yes I did follow the man himself's lil tutorial on how to pack a regular bowl and yes I did stir and acclimate before I packed it. boulderkid303
keep it in clumps. Also use big big holes all over and put one about 2x the size of the others in the middle of your bowl. Also only use 2 coals. Smoke for 5mins and then flip ur coals and keep them in the exact same spot. That will get it smoking right. Good luck. Most of the time I thinkk I'm overpacking and then maybe I really am underpacking for Tangiers?

boulderkid303
until its coming out the bowl, and get all the edges. in other words make the foil poke up a tad.
Canon
take a coal off or move it away from shisha somehow (more towards to the middle)i think ur burning it.
Luke69
Yeah i think ur burning it too. Start off with a small amount of coals. When it worked for me i only used half a quicklight and moved it around the bowl then after a bit i added the other half. But im no tangiers expert. But when i tried it, that worked for me. Geiseric
I know people talk about it being just as good in a regular bowl, but I can't replicate the quality of tangiers smoked in a phunnel, it just smokes perfectly. Rayver has a good video on how to pack tangiers in a phunnel, although I pack it a little lower than he does, I'm not entirely how it doesn't burn with the way he packs it right up to the foil. Patzke
I never really had a problem with tangiers, but i think it has to do with my OCD too..haha i have this "ocd" symptom that i have to touch the coals like every 10 minutes, my friends hate it, but it works well; especialy with tangiers. So in other words, try moving the coals around constantly, instead of frying one spot. IMO Japanese coals are so far the best. They're pretty much the same thing as exoticas - in my opinion. Are you lighting your coals ALL the way before you're smoking? Light them to the point where they start ashing on your stove/tortch/whatever, and turn grayish whitish.
EternalSoil
yeah, sounds like you have too much heat to me too. how much of your coals are you using? different coals burn at different temperatures too. i wonder if anyone can compare the nours to say 3k? as far as ratio? like 1/3 of a nour = 1/2 of a 33mm 3k tab? JillyIsJustKidding
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v322/dradcliffe/pack.jpg(white line is showin' how high I packed itI'm seriously thinking that the tobacco was burning! But it's weird cuz I thought when the tobacco is touching the foil, it actually makes it smoke better 0_o ahhhhh
EternalSoil
for that size bowl you have too much heat.. take off 2 pieces of coal and see if that helps any... and its ok if it touches the foil, you just dont want it burning...
Johnny_D
Looks WAY underpacked as well. If you look at Rayver's recent threads that's how high you need to pack tangiers. Touching the foil is exactly what you should do! JD
