Hey, since ive joined this forum i always hear about how people will smoke hookah it will literally taste like the things it supposed to. however, when i smoke, i really only get a hint of a flavor and some smell of it but never like actual flavor that i could diferentiate between others. the shisha doesnt burn as far as i know but i do get it very hot so that it actually smokes and i do everything according to plan. i pack the bowl not too loose or too tight. i dont know what else i can do! PLEASE HELP!!!!

I used to have the same problem. The smoke was thick, smooth, and able to provide a buzz.....BUT the flavor was seriously lacking. These days I don't have the problem at all and I'm not exactly sure why. It pretty much has to be due to packing technique, heat managment, or brand/freshness of tobacco. For me it just got better with experience. What kind of tobacco are you smoking?

I have a similiar problem with starbuzz. My chocolate mint tastes like mint dirt. And my peach tastes like coals. But i think it might be my hose so ill get a new one and see how that works. Try cleaning you hookah stuff

Also, try curling your tongue up in front of the mouthpiece. You will get more flavor as the inhaled smoke hits under your tongue.

as dumb as it sounds: +1

I have the same problems though. My friend and I had 2 hookahs set up, one with Al Amir Strawberry Kiwi, and the other with Tripple Apple. The only time I could actualy taste the flavor is when I left his hookah, and went back to mine (first hit only) - and visa versa.

I've been reading a lot on it. More Smaller coals? Looser/"Fluffier" packing, etc. cant seem to get it.

I get monsoon clouds tho. cool.gif tongue.gif Edited by Patzke

It seems like most of us got past it with experience so hang in there. If you can, try to smoke with someone who's getting great results and look for any slight differences in how they set everything up. And make sure, as someone else said, that you clean your hokah after every use.

im the only one of my friends with a hookah and im the only one who knows what the fuck they are doing when it comes to one. i dont really have anyone to help me out lol

Hey man, I used to have the same problem, I still do sometimes. I used to put TONS of holes in my foil so while i was getting a thick smoke, I was also getting too much air is what I've found. Recently I started putting a lot less holes, but while I was getting great taste, my shisha was burning so quickly that it went from delicious to shit qiuckly. So I feel that if you know how to pack, and you're good at coal management, it might come down to your foil. Try it out, its what I did and it worked for me, I just need to find a better balance. Good luck

Yup, I also used to get very little taste.
But it seems that the more sessions you smoke
the more your taste develops
and the more your session technique develops.

How long have you been smoking?

Sidebar: Teach your friends to set up. It's good when someone else sets up a fine seshie.

nopeace if you were in the richmond area id say come join me in a few session and i could show you my techniques. alot of times its your heat management that you have to work on. typically with different bowls and styles you need to change up how much coal you use.
