NoPeace
Hey, since ive joined this forum i always hear about how people will smoke hookah it will literally taste like the things it supposed to. however, when i smoke, i really only get a hint of a flavor and some smell of it but never like actual flavor that i could diferentiate between others. the shisha doesnt burn as far as i know but i do get it very hot so that it actually smokes and i do everything according to plan. i pack the bowl not too loose or too tight. i dont know what else i can do! PLEASE HELP!!!!
Ecstacy
I used to have the same problem. The smoke was thick, smooth, and able to provide a buzz.....BUT the flavor was seriously lacking. These days I don't have the problem at all and I'm not exactly sure why. It pretty much has to be due to packing technique, heat managment, or brand/freshness of tobacco. For me it just got better with experience. What kind of tobacco are you smoking?Ecstacy
Canon
thats how it was for me when i started smoking.. i dont know what it is but i can taste the flavors now.
SmokingDjinn
What type of shisha?
The fabulous Ian
I -just- hit the change-over. I still can't get the massive clouds other people on here get, but my flavor has definitely improved. I think my only real change of technique was packing more tobacco into the bowl. Luke69
I have a similiar problem with starbuzz. My chocolate mint tastes like mint dirt. And my peach tastes like coals. But i think it might be my hose so ill get a new one and see how that works. Try cleaning you hookah stuff
oolatec
Also, try curling your tongue up in front of the mouthpiece. You will get more flavor as the inhaled smoke hits under your tongue.

My friend and I had 2 hookahs set up, one with Al Amir Strawberry Kiwi, and the other with Tripple Apple. The only time I could actualy taste the flavor is when I left his hookah, and went back to mine (first hit only) - and visa versa.I've been reading a lot on it. More Smaller coals? Looser/"Fluffier" packing, etc. cant seem to get it.I get monsoon clouds tho. Edited December 16, 2007 by Patzke

Ecstacy
It seems like most of us got past it with experience so hang in there. If you can, try to smoke with someone who's getting great results and look for any slight differences in how they set everything up. And make sure, as someone else said, that you clean your hokah after every use.Ecstacy

I used to put TONS of holes in my foil so while i was getting a thick smoke, I was also getting too much air is what I've found. Recently I started putting a lot less holes, but while I was getting great taste, my shisha was burning so quickly that it went from delicious to shit qiuckly. So I feel that if you know how to pack, and you're good at coal management, it might come down to your foil. Try it out, its what I did and it worked for me, I just need to find a better balance. Good luck

SmokingDjinn
Weird, I typically get lots of flavour out of Al Fakher, although when I smoked the apple I didn't get a whole lot, though Al Waha apple was better actually. Try using a phunnell with a mod.
shisha fan
i`ve had the same problem with one of my hookahs, i can barely get any flavor from it. it`s really strange because i set it up correctly like usual and no different than any other hookah, also it only happens with that specific hookah. NoPeace
so the hookah can actually affect the flavor?

Cheese//
Yup, I also used to get very little taste. But it seems that the more sessions you smokethe more your taste developsand the more your session technique develops. How long have you been smoking?Sidebar: Teach your friends to set up. It's good when someone else sets up a fine seshie.
