hey, i was just wondering how addictive hookah is in relations to cigarettes. how much nicotine is in cigarettes compared to hookah in percentage? im only asking because when i first started hookah and i would smoke, i wouldnt have cravings or anything and i wasnt addicted. however, now for some reason even though i smoke just aobut the same amount, i have been getting major cravings even hours after i smoked. i still limit it to about 3-4 times a month but there are definetly cravings that werent there before.

I could be wrong, but I believe Starbuzz says it's close to 0 nicotine on the tin. I think the addictiveness is in the fun factor itself not the nicotine.

It depends when you say ADDICTING... Chemcally or Mentally.. I believe shisha is mentally addictive. I have know lots of people that have smoked hookah and arent addicted, they dont get any cravings! I have a few friends that smoke everyday, not because of any cravings.. but because they love shisha (mentaly addicted/ a hobby)...

Just like you being addicted to music.. games... sports (football..)

Anyway I believe it would take bowls and bowls of shisha a day to get you hooked on. Otherwise you think about shisha *what you lot call it hookah cravings* because you have nothing else in your life, to do besides smoke and watch TV, Movies at home or when you have holiday breaks you havent got much to do. Put it this way if you have lots of other things in your life, your mind will get distracted. You come on this forum to post because you love shisha, its your hobby.

Then again some of these posters claim dieng hungery for shisha... Most likely because you've smoked bowls and bowls a day..

Remember hookah is a SOCIAL experience, it allways has been for 100's of years, its pointless smoking by yourself (its recently that many people start smoking hookah everyday since the introduction of flavours).. A reason why shisha has been known as unaddictve because people from the middle east and asia smoked once/twice a week/monthly as a small hobby, they could stop if they felt like and they had other things to do in there life besides smoking bowls every day.

You've also got to consider or come forward to say whether you've been a Past Cigarette smoker or currently smoke them. It can make a huge difference in your addiction to hookah. Edited by amnite

i used to smoke at least a bowl of day when i have the shisha and everything needed to smoke. But it seems to me when i dont have shisha i dont have any craving. I personally dont think hookah even compares to cigs for obvious reasons. i smoke about 3 times a week 5 bowls a week. With my 28" Ballerina and my taniers funnel bowl with custom home depot hoses its hard to resist a oood smoke. Hookah Addiction is all mental Edited by hungry hungry puffer

Also who says that Herbal Shisha isn't addictive? wink.gif Sure it has no nicotine but doesnt mean its not addictive. I've smoked soex and enjoyed it, the next couple of days I felt like smoking it, having thoughts of it. I've never felt like this with tobacco. After a couple of days I ignored it and forgot all about soex. Another reason why I believe its mentally addictive. Edited by amnite

  • 1 year later...
I have smoked pack a day for over 5 yrs and I really had a bad craving for it. I quit smoking cold turkey and it took me quite a long time and a lot of effort to get over craving. Best luck to all those who want to give up smoking. When you feel craving the most, try having a glass of water.

Anything can be addictive if you have an "addictive" personality.

Otherwise, Hookah's nicotine, if it effects you at all, will make you lightheaded, not crave it constantly like a ciggie.

I've been smoking a few hours every day for a few weeks, but thats just me, and its too much biggrin.gif

Addictions in your HEAD SIR!

As others have stated, I believe that shisha is not physically addicting but most definitely mentally addicting. Personally I'm addicted to smoking shisha as a hobby. Much like many other hobbies which I am passionate about, I strive to perfect and expand on my pipes. Now it does have nicotine which has been proven to be physically addicting but the sheer impracticality makes it easier for me to moderate my consumption. The only danger of addiction I can see would be turning to cigarettes or more feasible means of nicotine consumption.

I think you are all light weights!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I smoke 4 hours a day everyday. Usually at night, and straight. On week ends, I mighty smoke 6 hours.

Of course I expect to be dead before all of you.

There is no way hookah can compare to cigs when it comes to the addiction factor... Im sure any of us on the forum can stop smoking hookah before a cig smoker can stop smoking cigs.. Hookah to me is just like a hobby as somebody said before. It is a social event you can do with all your friends or for when you just wanna blow some o rings. I dont think people can get the shakes from not smoking hookah for more than a day. Im sure if you ask a smoker that smokes cigs and hookah they will say they dont compare when they talk about being addicted..
