Wierd Flavor Problem

Recommended Posts

So I went to my usual lounge for the first time tonight since I got back from school. I order a double apple and peach, figure something light and enjoyable. I was used to theses flavors at this lounge and they were some of my favorites. So I ask the guy which brand of shisha it is and he said al fakir (spelling). So I was like alright sweet, something differrent from the usual layalina flavors. (I was actually kind of excited to switch it up a bit). So they bring out the pipes and I stat puffin away. To my suprise the apple tasted like black licorice and the peach tasted like jasmin. Me being knowledgeable about hookahs asked if they could switch the hose or something to make the taste of the previous session not overpower our flavors. The guy (kind of arragantly too) said thats how these flavors taste and that it was not the wrong flavor. Is al fakhir really like that or was the guy just too lazy to pack a bowl with the right shisha?

On a side note, I hate it when the people that work at lounges think they are the gods of hookah and assume that just because we are enjoying a session at a lounge we know nothing about the hookahs. Everytime I go there I find myself correcting them on things and it really makes me wonder why I still go there.

Advice would be appreciated!

I dunno about the peach, but I know for sure that the AF apple has a anise (licorice) taste to it.

thats dissapointing. I was just hoping for some great apple taste. Licorice is like my least favorite flavor of anything so I think thats why it got to me so much because I was expecting such a strong apple flavor. Oh well!

ummm..... since when does AF make peach?

Holy shit you're right!

Sdzier you should totally call that dude out!

i think closest he may come to holding his own is maybe that on the package, apricots look like peaches. last time i checked though "apricot" and "peaches" were not similar at all!

2 apple is so popular because it MAY have been the first flavoured tobacco to come out in 1986. If you aren't into anise also avaoid any flavour that has "baharani" (or variations on the smae) in the name. Apple Baharani is a single red apple taste with anise, every time.

And ya, AF don't make peach yet so he mixed sumptin up...

Al Fakher doesn't (or hasn't released yet) a Peach, but the knock off brand Al Fakhir supposedly does make a Peach. They may be using that brand or as you said, may be too stuck up to admitt they screwed up. Edited by lazria

Thats very interesting. Wouldnt suprise me if they were using the knockoff to make more money. I dont think I will be going back to that lounge any more, even the hookahs themselves didnt seem to hit as well either. Smoke was harsher than it used to be and it was hard as hell to get a nice hit off of it (im thinking not enough air flow through the bowl). Its dissappointing to see the place that got me so into hookah suddenly become craptastical. Thank the lord for having my own hookah and knowing how to pack it right. Thanks for the knowledge!

I'm so happy there is a "middle-eastern" section of town... The bar I go to is always filled with middle-easterners who know their stuff... I talked to the lady and she says the ONLY serve AF because their clients will immediately know the difference

Yea I just had 4 customers hit this and they are now buying the mix. lol But anyways we had remnants of Mintos in the water still. But we mixed al waha Apple and Afzal Peach and it was what you were looking for dude. I would look for a new lounge if they can`t seem to get it right. Tobacco is cheap as well as coals. They need to pay rent and make a profit but its undeserved if they wont listen to their customers and the Bowls/ money is wasted.

Good luck with your final decesion.
