Bulldog_916
I guess the next time I get coals I'll get the Rolland naturals or some Smiley's in addition to a box of Exoticas to at least give me some backup if they are crap. I got a good box and couldnt be happier with them, so I dunno.
mathuv
hmm.. sadly i dont think any refunds will come, except for some exceptions like mushrat and people who bought cases ( online vendors who would then refund some of their customers for example) i say this is the risk with mass producing, theres always a bad batch or 2. like recently theres been that whole toxic paint in toys thing in china.... most i can say is anyone who got a bad batch stop using them immediately and try arrange with vendor/exotica for a replacement in exchange for the bad batch. They smell so noxious. It's like Toxic Waste. They almost smell as bad as QL coals, and you can atleast SEE the QL smoke. They don't even stay lit on the side closest to the tobacco, and i can't get any flavor because the coal taste fucks me in my mouth. Snoopy1966
Well I am not sure this is the right place for this, but we are talking about the coals here also. The first stick I used let off a little smell while lighting it. The second one I did just now really smelled. Here are pics on the stove and my Hookah. Is this the right placement? Did I light them long enough? At first while I was posting this I did not like the taste I was getting. I am smoking Tangiers Orange Soda. I used 2/3rds of a stick. It is tasting better now though. Is this usual or did I put them on to soon?
mushrat
I got a call from Gabriel tonight. He explained the situation to me and has made arrangements with me to correct my problem and has assured me that in the future the Exotica finger coals will be back to their original greatness. Nice guy on the phone too. So, Don't be afraid to try these suckers, they really are good coals.

ExoticImports
Very well put. Pleas make sure you cook the coal completely prior to placing the coal on the hookah.ThanksGabrielQUOTE (mathuv @ Dec 27 2007, 02:06 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>QUOTE (Snoopy1966 @ Dec 27 2007, 06:31 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Well I am not sure this is the right place for this, but we are talking about the coals here also. Snoopy1966
well you see the pics I took above yes? That is what I am asking. They are fully ashed and taste like shit. It was like smoking a tree with a little taste of Orange from the Shisha. That whole bowl is wasted. I wanted to fire it up this morning but, I do not think so. Do I have a bad box then? Are they ashed enough? The whole session was complete crap. My lungs hurt, I fell like I smoked a tree last night. I put forth straight questions with pictures even. I put the coals on about 1 minutes after I took that pic. Were the coals ready for goodness sake? That is what I am asking. Tasted like shit, thats what it tasted like.Or did I put them on to soon and wreck the Shisha??
mathuv
well man they look fine. did you just let them ash over or did you blow on them to make sure they were red hot throught? i've never had a bad experience with natural wood coals. (never tried exotica tho)
Snoopy1966
yeah they had a nice fire around the whole coal and I flipped them around a little to make sure they were ready. I have used some Romman Lemonwood coals before and I relly like the taste of the Shisha so much better with naturals. As much as I did not want to try this, but I did. I used some QL's to get the same Phunnel going from last night. I have more Shisha flavor now and for sure and no smoky taste. Jusy a hint maybe from the naturals left over from last night. Will the wether effect these once they are produced? They came from Hookah Co. to Wisconsin and I do not know where the packages sit while waiting over the holidays. They were shipped on the 19th and I got them on the 26th.Thanks for the help
ExoticImports
The coals look fine. Please try cooking the coals 2.5 minutes on each side plus or minus a bit depending on your altitude. The coals can not give any taste as it is made of natural wood. Also, what type of foil are you using. It can be that you are melting the foil and the taste is the foil burning. There are many variables other than the coals which can give bad taste to a hookah. ThanksGabrielExotic Imports USAQUOTE (Snoopy1966 @ Dec 27 2007, 06:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>yeah they had a nice fire around the whole coal and I flipped them around a little to make sure they were ready. Snoopy1966
I am using restaurant quality heavy duty foil. I am very careful with my management of heat. Also I expect some hit and miss until I figure out how to use the naturals. I am use to QL's now.I will try some Exoticas now on this bowl, there is plenty of Shisha left yet.
