Dumbest Question Ever...

Recommended Posts

Ok, this truly is one of the dumbest questions ever, but here goes...
What is the difference between an amazing hookah and a crappy one?
I mean specifics, like reliability, smoke smoothness, quality, taste, etc. Here are the two Hookahs I have right now (besides my water jug and my 4" ones)

I have to keep adjusting the coals and purging every 5-10 minutes, and the bowl only lasts about 1 hour.
Is that the hookah or me? (Both were $40 when new, no name or anything).

Smoke smoothness/quality/taste depend more on the tobacco and heat management than the pipe itself IMO. As far as the pipe is concerned though, there are definitely crappy ones out there, and there are definitely great ones too. It's all about build quality, durability, and functionality as far as I am concerned. But a great hookah can turn into a bad one within a matter of days/weeks if it's not maintained properly.

However, if you start out with a crappy one, there is no hope for you. lol

Your gold one actually looks kinda nice. But that other one... egads...

I have to do this with my $150 Mya Paragon, so don't feel alone.

It seems that I always have to keep moving the coal around, or else it gets very harsh very fast.

The smoke mostly depend son the skill of the smoker. My friends and I can probably get pretty good smoke out of any hookah, as long as everything seals right. Heres the thing, any hookahs under about 18 inches (Except the qt) usually don't smoke too well. Anything above that is usually the same smoke wise.

Its all in technique. And what gear your using.

how would milk do that?

It doesn't it just a gimmick.

Basically a hookah will work fine as long as it's air tight. Stick you finger over the hole at the top (where the tobacco bowl goes) then suck from the hose port.

If it's not air tight then your going to have some problems.

Then your hose... If it's not a washable hose [If it's not a nammor, it's not washable basically] Then this might need replacing - it could very well be rusting.

Then your tobacco bowl and heat management. Learn how to get it right.

Once you get the tobacco and heat correct you can pritty much some out of any hookah provided it's air tight.

Also - clean your hookah thoroughly and regulary.

Remember. Keep It Simple.

it could be your placing too many coals.

I use naturals and usually put a few small pieces then take some big draws to get the heat going, and ill get large puffs out of my hookah, originally i had placed a bit larger pieces and gotten draws but then it'd heat up too much when its going and i had overdone the coals so i'd get a harsh taste, i didnt know this at the time so i'd always rotate the coals around so it wouldnt be harsh, but if you use the right amount (maybe 70% of what you use now) then see if the smoke picks up.

I alternate usually every 25 mins but thats with naturals. For quick lights i used to do 2 coals and it'd last 45 mins and then i'd add one more to finish the bowl and itd end in about another 25 mins!

This is all with Nakhla, the naturals are a much better smoke.

Going from 3 non nammor's to nammor's increased my smoke levels alot.
