Socal Peeps - Stay Away From Habibi's In L.a.!

Went there tonight and by FAR the worst lounge I've ever been to (only thing good about em was the music).  Cheap shishas - serve mostly Al Waha and they throw in Al Fakher.  Only have about 12 not-so-stunning flavors to choose from.   Staff there was rude, unattentive.  Not even a coal guy was on staff because all they did was put a heuge block on top of a small bowl and cover it (burnt the shisha to hell in about 10 minutes or less).  You're required to buy drinks - everyone.  On top of that we were overcharged.  

I've been to Oddessy, Al Basha, Cafe Fusion, and Dream Cafe in Anaheim & surrounding cities and all have had their good/not so good nights.  This place was HORRIBLE and had the worst service/hookah I've ever experianced.  Not to mention they're on the more expensive side.  Funny thing is - all they have around their place is plaques and shirts saying how they've been rated #1 and they "smoke the competition".  STAY AWAY.  Trust me on this.  I've ressurected my account at 4:30 in the morning after no sleep it was THAT bad!

Just to note - I was a very active member - my original account is Anpu but it was frozen or whatever because I went about a year or more w/out using it. I'm not just here to bash places, it really just was horrible and I don't want anyone wasting their time and money like I just did tonight. Edited December 27, 2007 by Anpu2

coal guy hmm..what exaclty do they do? ive never seen one here. but yeah usually smoke goes a bit harsh after about 20 mins at one lounge. most i can do is purge and move coals around with my keys.

that place used to be decent a couple years back when i used to go there often. Now its just total CRAP. Only good thing about the place is the atmosphere. Kind of like a party theme. Loud music, hot chicks, people dancing, so on...Did you really think you were going to walk in there and get a good hookah, let alone, good service? You have strangers sitting less then 6" away from you. If a fire was to start in that place, i dont know how everyone/ ANYONE would get out. Its overpacked and overpriced. Dont even think about going to Gypsies right across the street. Its the same sh*t.

You've got the coal guy thing right, they walk around giving fresh coals and checkin up on your bowls as you smoke em. Some places have no touch policy's on there hookahs and will only allow the coal guy to move around the coals on the head.

I hardly go to Hookah bars, and when I do go, I take my Hookah with me, make my own head, and pay them whatever price they would regularly charge. Why? Every Hookah bar that I have been to has disappointed me.

I never went to one Lounge where I looked back and said: "Man I want to go to it again!". Never.

but thats cos you're cool IMO I pack a better head than my regular hookah bar, when i feel like. I go to hookah lounges cos my friends do, i dont usually pay. Usually here the smoke gets a bit harsh and quite tasteless after about 20 mins..they use big bowls but...theyre shallow

True...80% of the places i've smoked are mediocre to bad. I only have one place that's run by men who i can call gentlemen and good hosts, who make a decent hookah and treat you with respect. The rest give you badly packed bowls with leaky hoses, never check up on you, are impolite and charge too much. Had a dude slam the nargile on the ground beside me and go "HERE" the other day.
