Having An Odor Problem Even After Cleaning

Recommended Posts

i went through a very deep cleaning proccess

what i cleaned :hookah and hoses

what i used: baking soda/lemon juice/warm water

scrubbed the hell outa everything

let the mixture run back and forth in the hoses for a lil while, then let warm water run through the hoses for a good minute or so.

now everything smells alot cleaner i dont have a harsh tobacco smell anymore

but its still not 100% odor free, when i suck on the hose iam still getting a light taste of somthing

any futher ideas? Edited by clickhea

Beer or any other drinking alcohol. I use vodka myself. A half can of beer (Natty FTW!!!!) or half shot of vodka diluted (not too much mind you) and wash everything out. The smell will be greatly diminished but the smell is never 100% gone no matter what. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being original stink, the alcohol will bring it down to a 2 or less depending on your scrub. Good luck!

yeah if i had to rate the smell id say its about a 2-3 right now

i have a mya qt and a vortex

and the smell, its really hard to describe, iam assuming its a light tobacco smell mixed with lemon scent.

hm, a mya, let me ask you: Is the inside of the stem plated like the outside is? If not, if you run fairly hot water through it and smell it, does it give off a bad smell? I'm trying to figure out a problem with a mya that I just purchased.

i have actually thought of getting a handle of everclear just for cleaning my hookah. cheap and potent stuff. i have used rubbing alcohol to clean mine before and it works pretty good even after just a good scrubbing.

i think if i were to soak all my stuff in some water/everclear(alcohol) mix for a day or so everything will be like brand new!

course i would have to let it sit for a day or so afterwards!

maybe i should wait till i have 2 functioning hookahs to do that?!

What'd I tell ya? Beer is amazing!

Also, when choosing a hard liquor to wash with, remember to choose one that's dry (not sweet) and neutral flavor. Bacardi Superior White Rum is good or Vodka (Everclear but that's straight up overkill). Any flavored (will leave behind the taste), Gin (gin is very floral so it'll leave the smell), Tequila, and Whiskey are all too flavorful/smelly too wash out with because it'll leave a smell. Good luck to all!
