Bulldog_916
Cap the hose and fill it with warm water and baking soda and keep it in there for several minutes. Do the same with your other components minus the stem. Then drain it and flush it with warm water. Thats all I got.
MechAnt
Beer or any other drinking alcohol. I use vodka myself. A half can of beer (Natty FTW!!!!) or half shot of vodka diluted (not too much mind you) and wash everything out. The smell will be greatly diminished but the smell is never 100% gone no matter what. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being original stink, the alcohol will bring it down to a 2 or less depending on your scrub. Good luck!
scrued
What kind of hookah do you have? And what's the smell like, is it residue from old shisha or is it something else?
clickhea
yeah if i had to rate the smell id say its about a 2-3 right nowi have a mya qt and a vortexand the smell, its really hard to describe, iam assuming its a light tobacco smell mixed with lemon scent. If not, if you run fairly hot water through it and smell it, does it give off a bad smell? I'm trying to figure out a problem with a mya that I just purchased. MechAnt
A 2 on the smell scale is not bad at all. Im sure if you tried a cleaning with some beer or vodka, you'd be able to drop that smell to a 1 or possibly lower. Try it!
EternalSoil
i have actually thought of getting a handle of everclear just for cleaning my hookah. cheap and potent stuff. i have used rubbing alcohol to clean mine before and it works pretty good even after just a good scrubbing.i think if i were to soak all my stuff in some water/everclear(alcohol) mix for a day or so everything will be like brand new!course i would have to let it sit for a day or so afterwards!maybe i should wait till i have 2 functioning hookahs to do that?! MechAnt
EVERCLEAR?! ARE YOU NUTS! LOLBeer is plenty to deodorize. A shot of vodka diluted will do the job. But Everclear? That's the meaning of overkill
mathuv
whiskey is on par with vodka too but might leave a slight smell.
EternalSoil
eh, overkill, maybe... but i really hate vodka and dont want to buy it, maybe thats my reasoning. now other things are starting to sound nice to ry and clean with.... maybe ill grab a cheap gin. MechAnt
What'd I tell ya? Beer is amazing! Also, when choosing a hard liquor to wash with, remember to choose one that's dry (not sweet) and neutral flavor. Bacardi Superior White Rum is good or Vodka (Everclear but that's straight up overkill). Any flavored (will leave behind the taste), Gin (gin is very floral so it'll leave the smell), Tequila, and Whiskey are all too flavorful/smelly too wash out with because it'll leave a smell. Good luck to all!

MechAnt
I personally wouldn't try it but if it works, then all the better! I'm not much of a whiskey guy, I love strong Rum and Tequila. Yummy
