Cd Boot Failure

Try changing the cable connected to the hard drive with another. Go into the BIOS and check that everything is set as it should be. Take your hard disk out and check it in another computer to make sure it isnt the hard drive. If worse comes to worse, you might have to get another hard drive and another power supply, but I doubt the hard drive is fried. Check every connection, double check your settings, test both components in other systems. Those would be my steps to troubleshoot this.

my 5 second diag says its a failed hard drive

however, check the ide or sata cables first. switch them with new ones.
if the same thing is happening

go here : http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#DFT
download and create the drive fitness test boot cd

pop it in boot to cd and run it on ata only option

if it fails then i am right. if it passes then -----

go here: http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

download and burn iso disc. pop it in then boot to disc and run. i always run it so it passes at least 2 times.

if those both pass then its a possible issue with your mobo.

edit: My bad I re-looked at that video and realized everything was shutting down after it initially tried to boot. Try to run that dft program though. If it shuts off even when you try to run that then it is probably a mobo going down in flames.

and yes i am a geeksquad agent until i finish my masters program. fuck anyone who talks shit about it. Edited by thecoalition
