Lighting Coals Outside

Recommended Posts

OK so I bought a flat top burner last night. It was about 20 degrees out, and it took a little while to get them going but it worked. I was wondering what I could do to keep some heat contained to make it easier. I know being outside is not the best thing in cold weather trying to do this. When it snows I will not be doing this. Here is a pic of the burner and it in action last night. I fashioned a piece of foil to go over the top of it and made sure nothing was touching the burner. Anyone else do this? any suggestions? Thanks.

Hey good Idea that way it has air to get inside too. I do not like the upside down pot idea. Could get very hot and not let in air. Back to Target laugh.gif or the thrift store. We are supposed to get pounded with snow again, it has already started and the radar looks like we have a a good one coming in. I am so bummed, not exoticas for me today sad.gif Even though I am not getting much snow on the balcony, but snow and electricity do not mix for and inside burner.

I bought a colander that fits perfect over the burner. I just started some up outside despite of the snow. I cleared off the part where I set my cookie sheet and I warmed up the burner first this time before I put it outside. I put on the coals and the colander and it worked great. Just enough air inside to help with the lighting. Enjoying some Peach Ice Tea now
