Hookah Differences

Recommended Posts

So I know there are like 10 different types of hookahs... Syrian, Egyptian, Modern, Lebaneese etc.

The only thing I really know for differences is that Egyptian tend to be hand made, which in turn, makes them a bit lower quality.

Syrian are machine made which = more consistant quality but not necessarily better...

What makes a hookah "Modern" or Lebaneese etc

I would actually expect a better build quality from a handmade hookah as opposed to a manufactured hookah...

yes the base might be crooked or what have you, but it is less likely to have fucked welds, or improper fittings.

I was impressed by my little hand made Egyptian, it's build quality and how well it smokes. Looking it over, it has solid welds and the connection ports are solidly made. The glass is actually thick for the type of vase. I'd actually almost trust a hand fashioned hookah over a machine made one.

Egyptians are all around hand-made. If you get a KM or MZ or designer Egytpian, you will be good. They are nowadays usually made of or mostly comprised of a Stainless Steel metal (as in Nickel Plated Steel). They always have a Traditional Heart Construction.

Syrians are usually full brass design, and very sturdy, elegant, and heavy. Their ports are usually smaller (tighter pull). The heart construction may be Traditonal or Common Chamber (this usually depends on if it is hand-made or not).

Mod refers to any "New-Age" or "Modern" hookah. These hookahs are never hand-made, only factory made. They are usually Mass Produced. Chinese knockoffs are commonly in the category. Although Mya's are Chinese made, they are very sturdy, elegant, and long-lasting wonderful hookahs. Myas are referred to as Mod hookahs.

If hookahs are Machine made then the stems are able to dis-assemble, and come in multiple threaded pieces; they are always Common Chamber. If they are Hand-made, they may have small imperfections, but are significantly cheaper than Machine-made; they always have traditonal Style hearts.

Lower? in what terms?

Choose your words wisely, lol. I've got a Khalil Mamoon ready to bite back at any given second.

heart is the part between the hose port and the vase.. its hard to explain without pictures.

but hand made ones with traditional hearts have 2 seperate tubes, one for the purge and one for the sucking. it makes the purge better and imo the smoke better

common chamber hearts dont have seperate tubes, the purge and the smoke tube go as far as neccesary to smoke, when you purge it doesnt work aswell, it only purges the top of the vase..

i hope i have confused you more.
