Nostalgia

Well I was doing a bit of thinking and this is what I wrote down.

You know, I've travelled all over the world looking for my utopia. Everywhere I go I am disappointed. I am left wanting more. Then as I sit here I think to myself. The only utopia is found in your memories. The memories that run through your mind every time you feel bad. The memories you want to relive. Something always brings back these memories. For me, the song is Habibi Ya Nour el Ain by Amr Diab. It brings me back to a time of my mother Nissan Pathfinder. A time of club creek dr. in Alief where we used to own a video store. It reminds me of a time before my stepmother. Before me and my dad fought. Before life was hard. Before all the fights with people that used to be extremely close. This is the song. I encourage all of you to look inside yourselves. To the past. To the time when everything was simple. Remember these times and cherish them. Relive them in your mind whenever you feel down, but also try and make new memories to add to your mental scrapbook. So that in the future you have great times to look back on.

Is there anything that triggers a feeling of nostalgia for all of you?

song- for my friends
band- folly
reasoning: this band is relatively big in the hardcore scene now but when i was in highschool with all of my friends these guys went to a rival school but we all hung out together. this was a band that used to play small shows with other local crappy bands in basements of our neighborhood. we ate the stuff up and loved the message of their songs. the song is about no matter how far away you move from one another or whatever happens, your friends will always be there for you.
this new years was a bit depressing for me (hence why i got hammered) because it was another year that has left me wishing a happy new year to all my friends from back home only over the phone instead of in person. i havent seen some of them in a year or so because im in va and they are all in nj. we all have jobs and women in our lives so its hard to just drop everything to hang out every once in a while. the 8 hour trip to home doesnt help either.
on top of that a falling out with some friends from va happened this past year because of their lifestyle choices (um lets say the poisons they choose over hookah) so i dont wish to be around that stuff so i had to cut off about 50% of my normal friends.
but i have gotten some new people that i love down here and they are into the same things. plus now that some of my friends from back home have gotten real jobs and are done with school im hoping to go up during my spring break to get together with them again.
should be good times.
