SirSmokesAlot
Ehh dudies, alight well just gotta ask this question. I always assumed those who claimed coal affected taste were just bein real nitpickity and if it does its minor but now im just somehwat concerned. recently i purchased this pack of 50 "syrian quick light coals" on sale for just 5$ (i couldnt pass up the deal) due to their inexpensive nature im curios as to wether or not they really suck and if so how much will that really affect the taste of my tobbacco. Any experience people have had with this type of coal or with coal taste would help.
yashman19
Depending on the coals, some CAN really affect the flavor of your session. Its not a matter of being nitpicky. I'm sure any other person on this board can vouch for that. I haven't ever used the syrian quick lights, so I can't help you out there, but I have tried 3Kings and Goldens, which are both quicklights as well. The 3Kings smoke fine after you get them fully lit (meaning no black left on the whole coal), and Goldens work exceptionally well (except for a bursting problem some have whitnessed). Most quicklights should work similarly, so just make sure you don't start smoking until the entire coal is lit and glowing red and you should be fine. Soup
Despite being quick lite coals, we use a propane torch to light the 3kings. 50 for $5...thats 10 for $1. I guess that there is no harm in trying. I'm paying $2 for a roll of 3kings here.

jmexx
I pay 15 bucks a box for my 3kings, so umm... 15 cents each, canadian. I love them 3kings, though! I think they're so cheap because they're everywhere in Montreal. Jon

MR Bubble
Don't see a problem wit hthat. Just make sure it's from a hardwood and NOT pine. MR Bubble
John Deere
I did it once when I ran out of coals and I was desparate. They worked fine, but the ash is really fluffy, and they dont burn particularly long since charcoal is compressed and these are not. And Mr. Bubble was right, NO PINE..
