China; ever thought about always using flash but building on a diffuser to the flash? You could keep interchangeable ones with you and switch em out. Thinner ones for shots of people, and thicker for shots of crowds. With the right setup that could improve the shots a whole lot. Im not saying there bad, but i bet that would help IS works great when shooting night landscapes but are practically useless when shooting nightclubs.when strobes are going off 6 times per second the image will blur because its the subjects that move, not because the photographer is moving.as for diffuser, i have used the stofen omnibounce and gary fong lightsphere but i still prefer bare bulb. i am goinna try the gary fong whaletale soon thogh. i also would like to invest in a stronger flash (canon 580ex ii).
