erufiku
There are a lot of misconceptions regarding nicotine in the western world. The substance by itself (eg. patches) is used by some bodybuilders that are in the weight reduction stage of their programs. In small dosages it acts as a stimulating agent. It has been traditionally used in both Americas by the indigenous populations as a psychotonicum that alleviates fatigue and hunger. Curbing hunger = weight reduction.Note that I am writing about nicotine, not tar and various other chemicals prodiced when heating tobacco. Also, small dosages, in large concentrations it is fatal.edit: I'll try to gather more information when I have the free time and make a separate topic for all the health nuts Edited April 1, 2008 by erufiku
gaia.plateau
I was under the impression that, as long as you don't actually burn the shisha, but only cook the flavour out of it, you're not producing tar.

chrisrbts
Wow that was a long thread to read through, but why is Exotica being so persistent on saying that tobacco is going to be banned in the USA. If cigs are legal there is no way from keeping people from smoking hookah. Yes they are both bad for you but you have a choice with hookah more so than cigs. I have yet to meet a person that is actually "addicted" to hookah. I used to smoke every day for about 3-5 hours a night and I easily quit smoking for 4 months. But started smoking again because I enjoy it, not because i need it. Cigs on the other hand...I see this as just a marketing ploy to push people to buy Soexedited b/c i can't spell Edited April 2, 2008 by chrisrbts

amnite
The reason why the packs are labeled 0% tar is because you dont actually burn the shisha but heat them at high temperature. When you smoke shisha tar is formed, but the tar is different to that of cig tar, the properties are different. What must be known is that many of the cancer causing agents that exist in cigarettes dont exist in shisha because of the lower temperatures. I believe shisha is bad for you but no were near the effects of cigarettes. As "r1v3th3ad" was saying there was another post proving weather shisha contained tar. If you look on youtube you can find a video of the tar formation of cigarettes, its very similar to how a hookah works (a water chamber...) the water turns black after 400 cigs. Now you do the maths.... The tar in shisha is different. The nicotine in shisha has allways been known as unadictive, I believe its because the nicotines properties are different. Even though you may be inhaling a lot more nicotine than cigarettes its been proven that nicotine doesnt cause harm to human body if its in its limit (not too high as you can become poisned).I very much doubt that any future research in to hookah smoking will help... due to all the corruption out there. Money rules the world flaw the experiments. I wudnt say every scientist is like this but the ones in major organisations against tobacco (work on banning it)... Put it this way If I didnt know anything about a hookah and I came across a media report claiming that a hookah equalled 20...200 woteva cigarettes with an image of a hookah, I wudnt be suprised, I would fall for them and believe them. Steemax
ok this may be completly random but since Soex ISNT tobbaco or anywhere near having any tobbaco in it, wont it make it legal for anyone of any age to purchase it

aldonb1
Eh personally I think soex tastes like garbage. But besides that:I think it is morally wrong of companies to claim that their product is healthier based solely on assumptions. No real study has been done on Soex "herbal" shisha and I think it is fradulent of them to claim that it is a safer alternative.I will take the box clearly labled over the mystery box anyday. Kathrynx
I didn't read everything, but what are the laws with tabacco in texas? I mean, we have hookah bars all over the place, and I know that the one here in Amarillo is letting you smoke tabacco. If they had just the Soex, would that mean that really young kids could go and smoke and drink tea and watch belly dancers too? They also sell it here, a crappy brand, but still not Soex.I've never had Soex, and not sure on how I would like it. I smoke hookah pretty regularly, but can go for days on end without it. I'm probably not addicted...
