Quest For Fire.

Recommended Posts

I just got in a new box of Golden quicklight coals. I used to used them and 3 kings indiscriminately, but have only found 3 Kings in my local shops for the last 2 years.

I noticed that these seem to burn cooler than 3 kings, it takes three halves to get SB going with a small TG phunnel with mod. 3 Kings only needs two halves.

They also are harder to break evenly, I need to score the bottom with serrated tongs to get them to break evenly.

Now I need to figure out if I want to keep using them, or relegate them to the emergency cabinet, with the chinese Nour hookah, Sultan and Hookah Hookah Tobacco, and the bottle of generic vodka.

I actually use kitchen shears to cut coals. Works pretty good for me. I like GC, probably my favorite ql coals, but they are my emergency supply coals, for when I can't do natural coals. You al ways get that heady CO feeling off of qls.

wow, maybe that's my problem with getting headaches when i smoke. i can't smoke more than about 2 33mm QL's before i get a headache. i've tried drinking water, taking breaths in between, eating... everything except switching coals. i use Belgian QL's, now and i don't remember getting any headaches when i used 3-Kings.

maybe naturals are even better, yeah?

Recently i have only been smoking naturals (exoticas). Last week we smoked at my friends house and had to use quick lights, def could taste them a little.

I used ql's for a week or two when I started then I tried naturals and only smoked with qls for one session since then. I think you can def. taste a diff and also since they are not as hot, I think it's easier to use in terms of heat management.

I would have to agree about the QL's. I am almost out of exoticas, and last night for the second set of coals I put on a 40mm broke in half. I got a headache after about 15 min. I stopped smoking and had a little snack and drank more water, and that seemed to help. I just made sure I slowed down a little, but the taste is definitely noticeable from naturals to QL's. Time to get out the flat head screw driver and start breaking up my Lemonwood coals. That should be great fun!. I have 3 pcs that are about as round as a 40mm QL. It would be great if I could get some pcs that stay in the round shape and make them about 3/4 of an inch tall. Or are they going to shatter in little pcs?

okay, so i switched to Red Kastle's Al Hambra naturals, and i dont get headaches anymore. before when i got headaches after smoking only two coals during a session....now, like today i smoked all day long, like three bowls, and i didnt get even the slightest headache (unless you count trying to figure out a way to make them so they dont roll off, lol.) i broke all the rules: didnt drink water, didnt eat, didnt take a break to get fresh air. i smoked hard heavy and long all day with no side effects. i even smoked the SB honeyberry that i thought gave me the headaches, and it was the best smoke of my life.

you guys were right. i am glad i listened.

naturals FTW!!!
