pdxrollo23
So I am planning on buying my own hookah, the thing is my small apartment I think is designated "smoke-free". Not that I care, because I have smoked in it tons of times...but being no expert on hookah, do I need to worry about the smell? I am more concerned about the smell sticking around and maybe latching on to some of the furniture (its a furnished small college apartment). I would be smoking right by a window though, and figure I could just use air freshener if I really need to. But what you all think? Do I need to worry? Should I just stick to smoking hookah outside? Elky
Hookah scents tend to dissipate pretty quickly so no need to worry about that. you may want to rephrase your post though, so you dont feel the brunt of the mods wrath
zeppyrkr
watch what coals you get, some can make your room smell like a campfire for an hour but as said, it doesn't stay very long, a few hours and no one can tell.and taking his post the wrong way is kinda assuming something but i guess you should prolly re word it, although you were pretty indirect with it. thecoalition
the word "blaze" is one which is typically used with one type of smoking. simply saying it should be re-worded such as "i have smoked hookah/cigars/cigarettes/bidis/etc in it before." shisha fan
you won`t have to worry about the smoke hanging around, it dissapears very fast after you`re done smoking.
Elky
If you need to worry about anyhitng, its that some hookahs can be loud and sound incriminating. I know thats my biggest concern when it comes to smoking in my dorm.
Mitch
I get away with smoking my hookah in my dorm room, so you should be fine in a college apartment.

gr!m
I smoke in my apartment and no one as yet to notice. The only thing I got was "Hey, smells nice in here, like grapes!". So I don't think you have anything to worry about, the coals are what smell when you light them. Smells like you've lit a fire cracker.
Ralleac
I wouldn't be worrying about the smell. Coal burns on the carpet are more likely to get you in trouble than anything else.OT, but does the PDX in your nick stand for Portland? SafeSearchOff
there is little to no smell detectable that "latches" itself to the furniture. sometimes if im smoking at my friend's house, his roommate will complain that he smells whatever flavor im packing as im in the process of loading up the bowl... but nothing detectable afterwards.edit: also, havent you see the latest line of febreeze commercials? it exists for a reason.... sheesh... >.< Edited January 6, 2008 by SafeSearchOff
Luke69
I definately wouldnt worry about, when i was at high school i used to smoke in my dorm room sometimes and boarding school. The only thing that would smell was the coals when i tried to light them out the window. Other than that it smelt like fruit for maybe 10 minutes after then went away. pdxrollo23
Thanks for the replies guys. And yeah the PDX does stand for Portland. I saw you are there now in the introduction thread Ralleac, welcome to the greatest city of all time!
Gowmars
If anything your biggest concern will be not burning the carpet with the coals. Be careful with that.
Geiseric
I don't know, as I said before, a small room that you smoke in daily can start to pick up a certain "off" smell, not like tobacco smoke, not really placeable at all, perhaps a little like stale shisha, but it clears out fast if you leave the window open for a few days, or spray some Ozium. I recommend Ozium above all, it takes care of ALL smells, I once had a party where we allowed cigars to be smoked in the house, and the house reeked after, but when we sprayed it down with Ozium, the smell completely disappeared, and the ozium smell was gone in a few hours. ZenSilk
Damn. My room smells completely amazing, i'm gonna admit it. I smoke in there every night, granted it's a very large room.. but i use alot of incense... Green Tea and White Lotus. The White Lotus gives a spicy and floral aroma, the green tea gives a floral/light/sweet aroma, and the Polo Blue i use adds, well, Polo Blue Aroma. I have literally had a comment from every single person that had ever stepped into my room about how amazing it smells in there. But your in college apartments.. so you probably cant use incense. Lysol or Oust works wonders. As for the sound... Put modelling clay under your tray and there will be no rattle.
