I packed it with Layalina Raspberry, literally smoked for 3.5 hours and I still had a little unburned shisha at the bottom. Is that normal? Am I doing something wrong or extremely right? Using exotica coals cut into thirds just like normal. 2 across from eachother, push pin sized holes all over the foil. Great thick smoke through every hit. What's going on here?Oh yea, I started the session with Al Waha Guava....if you havent tried it, DONT! Tastes like ass and made my throat hurt, I tossed the whole thing. EvansLight Posted January 7, 2008 Share Posted January 7, 2008 My best guess? lost of good luck. Ive pulled off 4+ hour sessions on a mya bowl, and my longest session ever was 5h and 10m. But i have had times were we smoked one hookah for 7 hours. The DFW area party we had back when had an awesome 7 hours of smoke off some hookahs when we went to Heat. I'll smoke for 2 hours on a bowl and eventually get cold in the garage and wanna go inside, but easily could have pulled another hour or even 2 out of them. Some sort of weird hookah juju is happening here. I've had this happen with Fusion, Al Waha, and Layalina. I'm almost afraid to think what Tangiers is going to be like. (Hello 8 hour session? Started at 9:30am when family left the house, finally stopped at around 10:35pm or so that night XD I only opened the foil and move the tobacco around twice. Snoopy1966 Posted January 7, 2008 Share Posted January 7, 2008 Yes with Tangiers you can get some very long sessions. I have had over 6 hours on some bowls. That is why I wanted (and purchased) more Phunnels so I can smoke something different through the day. Just plop on a different Phunnel and you are ready to go!That is starnge for a regular head though, I think the longest I have gotten is about 4 hours, but I do not pack them very tight. I thought if I was getting 3+ on a standard head, that somehow I was better at this than I gave myself credit for? I dunno. I pretty much sprinkle the shisha into the bowl like I would any other time. Just figured it was unusual to get that kinda time from a standard head. I do the same thing when I pack layalina in a mya bowl, usually 2+hours.. get sick of smoking the same flavor before it is actually cashed. Once in a while I will wake up the next day after smoking 2 hours the night before and throw a coal on top and smoke for another hour or so.. even with jus a mya bowl Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It just takes alot of trial and error before you get nice consistant bowls. Like they even said, they didn't even think they could ever get a bowl to last that long, and they were surprised at the session length. I was at your point one time, but worse. I would always burn bowls. Just have to get good at knowing how many coals your bowl or shisha can take without burning, and know when to throw on another set, or just throw on another coal one at a time. I'd only take a hit every 20-30 seconds on average. Sometimes more, sometimes less. If I realized the smoke was getting thinner, I'd either ash the coals and reposition or throw on another one. I used 2 coals to start it then I only really needed 1 but I kept another around in case it started to thin out.BTW: JD, Pharoah's shisha is really good, it surprised me how good their blackberry was. I usually put 4 medium sized charcoals on my Tangiers [sp] funnel head, the most that lasted was 2hours+. It can be pushed to 3 hours easily, but then again, I don't want to just sit there and smoke for that long.Many impressive numbers in previous posts guys. Bulldog_916 Posted January 8, 2008 Author Share Posted January 8, 2008 The thicker smoke is awesome but I find it more difficult to keep the heat in the zone using more coals. Usually (using exoticas) they produce quite a bit of heat, on a smaller head, you dont need that much to keep it going well. Using the phunnel I can see how you would use 4 coals, but I'd still use 2 thirds of an exotica to keep my heat. Large or medium funnel, 2 halves with a little bit hanging over until they shrink down, then move it to the middle. I still cant see myself smoking a flavor that long (more than 4 hours). That's why I'm finding it difficult to justify buying a funnel and more shisha. If I cant smoke through a regular bowl of layalina in less than 3 hours, Tangiers is gonna be impossible.
