Brand Name Hookahs

Recommended Posts

Brand hookahs seem to be causing a storm..you have mya, kalil mamoun and magdy zidan. What ever happened to that no name quality hand made hookah? did every one forget about it or is it about the brand?

I am going to be straight forward.

I could care less about the no name quality Hookahs because the thought of buying one never ran through my head.

I get my stuff for almost half-off, which is why I stick with Brand name Hookahs and Hookah related stuff.

Edit: I am pretty sure that there are very loyal 'fans' of no-name brands. Which is pretty cool still. Edited by Codename067

Hell other then my myas i just always called my egyptians social smoke hookahs, never knew what they really were, and still don't care.

The brand only matters to me if i know from experience there good hookahs, but i don't let it decide for me. If i find a hookah better then a name brand then that name isn't going to change my mind.

I would say the Egyptian I have now is a no name as far as I know. I got it at Guess Hookah in Chicago. I have had it now for 2 years. It is holding up OK, it needs some lovin though. It smokes excellent I must say. For the 2 Hookahs I am getting this week a Sryian that is very nice and the KM that a member had here. I could not pass that one up. That is a sweet Hookah and I like the style. So I have made the plunge into serious equipment now that should last for a very long time. Quality of the pipe matters the most to me, I don't care if it was made by Bob the Builder if a solid Hookah.

Pics soon to drool over wub.gif

KM and MZ are both hand made, I believe. They also aren't priced any higher than most unknown brands. I think people just pick up on them based on consistent good quality and availability. My no-name 26" Egyptian is a pretty decent hookah, though. If the stem wasn't damaged I probably wouldn't want to replace it. Edited by Ralleac

Heres a lil FF, a fun fact. Minerva, from what i understand a MZ hookah, used to sell so poorly that i was able to get mine for ungodly cheap, and they were slashing the prices at SS for them. Now everyone is creaming there pants over them all because there is a brand name on it now.

I always knew they were good hookahs, and told people to buy them, but i guess we are swayed with a simple name.

Brand names are especialy important for those of us that live in areas that lack hookah culture. When forced to buy over the internet you only have reputation to go on, so the people who have a brand name and make consistantly good hookahs are the ones that get recognized. If I had the option I would gladly buy a unique peice of work, but only if I could see it first to make sure that it was highly functional. So though it is unfortunate its due to the nature of online buying that brand names have become so popular.

I smoke from Only Myas this week. Next week I will have soemthing new as someone buys my myas I am sure. I sell my used hookahs all the time. lol

If it was not a mya here it would be a Stargate Knock off. I say if you can trust the vendor to tell you the thruth about what he is selling Name brands are not needed. Like we carry 3 hookahs that are cheap and great for newbies. But in short we warn them they suck ahead of time. Most people will jump up a Model or 2 once they get an honest opinion from a trusted vendor.

So I guess the tip to buyers is find a dealer you can trust on line or if you are a dealer be honest and be that vendor that the customer can lean on for support / an honest answer.
