chromecarz00
So as far as I have seen, there is no official foiling thread. This is one of the most overlooked part of smoking hookah, and one of the most important. So I propose we create a thread dedicated to the art of foiling. This includes different ways of wrapping, poking, layering, etc. Sound like a good idea?
The Devils Playground
We make the screen look like a showhead. Lots of little Holes, Or of we have a weter tobacco we use a small knife and a bit larger holes. As for the Tent/ wind cover on dryier tobaccos we use a closed oone and as it starts up good we open the top. On weter tobaccos we simply leave it closed most of the way. Stuff like tonic, Buzz and King Mossael closed most of the way.

This includes different ways of wrapping, poking, layering, etc. Sound like a good idea?Since all I have around are normal bowls, I've been setting the foil up w/ one layer over the top. I poke two sets of holes on opposite sides. I set down a foil ring and another layer of foil over that with a set of holes poked in the center. After that I plop on some natural coals and a wind cover to help get it started. Sometimes the windcover isn't necessary after the first few minutes, and others I keep it on the entire time. The ash that manages to get through the first layer of foil usually settles on the second one instead of going into the bowl, which has kept the smoke from tasting ashy. I get full flavor and thick smoke pretty much every time, and haven't had any harshness creep up on me in a while. BillySoCo7
Depending on the thickness i'll go one layer for thick foil and 2 for thinner foil. Always shinny side down. usually just a bunch of sporadic holes for most shisha.
Bulldog_916
I find that when I use any foil and pin sized holes I never get ash in the bowl. I have yet to find any. If your coals are ashing into tiny ashes, switch it up to Exoticas, they ash very well and I dont get any in the shisha.
Dom
we just use Reynold's Wrap heavy duty foil. i used the regular thin foil and the 2nd coal would sometimes burn through. that was when i was first learning how to use the hookah.as for hole-poking, i just use a tooth-pick and try to make the holes as wide as the toothpick because i found out that fo rme, if i just barely pricked it, then i would have a hard time pulling the smoke through. i poke holes about half a cm from each other. in a phunnel, i poke them the same way except for the middle. for some people, poking a hole in the middle prevents the foil from getting sucked to the hole and clog it. i have never had that problem, so that's why i don't poke a hole in the middle.i don't use any particular pattern because i found that it doesn't really make a difference that i noticed. works for some, but for me, it's just the same as the random-hole method.
