AmunRa
I'm taking a trip soon, and I would like to take my pipe along. I don't trust it to not get broken in my checked bag, so I was going to take it as carry on. Has anyone ever tried this? I can just see myself having to explain this one...Any thoughts? PirateNinja415
i just flew with my hookah from NY to CA, and had no problems with the security/xray checks. If they do give you any problems, just tell them that it is for tobacco use only, and they should be ok with that

It was new and wrapped in 2 paperbags. I never got questioned about it....Harry
ban me im a spammer
I just flew Israel -> Toronto, by Air Canada, with a hookah in my carry-on, plus ~ten 50g boxes of tobacco (which I didn't declare, obviously). No hassle at all, at any point, hookah arrived safe and sound, no problems at customs. garykainz
Last summer I went from Denver to Ecuador with my hookah in my carry on. Didn't get so much as a second glance anywhere except in Miami, where the security scanner looked at me and said, "This yours?" I said "Yep" and he asked, "Is that what I think it is?" and I said "Yep" and that was the end of it. Went thru no problems. In retrospect, I probably should have said, "No, it's a hookah, for tobacco" but ya never know. Maybe he was a hookah fanatic too! ZenSilk
I went to Cancun, Mexico from SLC, Utah with a carry-on Ivory mini from Hookah-Shisha. They bubble wrapped my hookah as well, and i had use my Spanish skills (or lack of) to explain exactly what i was doing sucking on a hose and breathing out white clouds. P.S. Make sure you have a hard case. .. Or tons of bubble wrap and peanuts... tons... Edited January 11, 2008 by ZenSilk
Snoopy1966
Well the Bambino case is pretty small. I am just wondering how to get the coals and tobacco on with out problems. I think coals would be a concern for them? Maybe put them in my suitcase? Maybe that is a bad idea since they do the wipe thing for explosives and things.... ZenSilk
As long as you don't have a lighter or matches or a way to light the coals and they are in the case i odn;t think they would be a problem... My package of Golden QL was new and unopened though.
Sariél
My quicklites were removed from my checked baggage, and a letter sent to my client (who bought the ticket) saying that illegal items were removed from my suitcase. I just wonder if that goes in my Homeland Security or his? Probably both.Naturals MIGHT be OK, but the gunpowder in 3 Kings is definitely a no-no.Zen, i think you just got lucky and flew under the radar. Snoopy1966
I guess I can always buy some qls when I get there. My Son's Step Dad's friend has a tobacco shop he recently opened around Orlando somewhere. It is better then having to go to a lounge all the time like I did last year. 2 times a day is too much dollars!
Canon
i got my coals and coil burner through carry on no problems. they only cared about the shisha.
Snoopy1966
Wow that is interesting. Two totally different spins on it. Maybe because you are in the Military? I am an American, and I am a Muslim... so you can see where I am going with this. I dont need more problems then I already get at the airlines
Ralleac
I was thinking about asking this soon, as I'm flying home to pick up a car sometime in the near future and I want my hookah along. Good to know that people have had decent experiences. I get questioned every single time I take a game system through, of all things, and have actually had a squirt gun denied in the past. I don't want to risk getting stuck there w/ my hookah.
Canon
well the person checking me didnt know i was military. they only know your military if you flash the card around
The Devils Playground
My angry exwife works for TSA and as they say at TSA ( Take shit away) The are TSA not DEA. As long as something is clean or in your case used as a hookah then its no big dealio. I would play it safe and leave the tongs underneath but carry the tobacco and maybe coals with the hookah. Also send the torch lighter underneath also.Insider info for all.
Snoopy1966
Wouldn't they see the lighter? I would not want to risk that one. I will just buy a bic lighter when I get there. QLS are ok you think to bring on? I can bring full rolls or a box, because I plan on staying at least a week or more. Or should I bring my naturals with my electric burner too like Canon? The main thing is to bring tobacco and the Bambino if all else fails.
Canon
i got a box of exoticas through security no problem. i cant say about the rest.. i wouldnt want to bring ql's on because of the chemical they ahve coated around them.
AmunRa
Thanks for all the help you guys! I'm thinking I'll take the pipe as carry-on, and the rest I'll put in my checked bag. I use the Jap. easy lite coals, so that stuff should be ok I'd think. I was more concerned about finding the one TSA that has no damn education taking my supposed bong away. I think I'd have to whoop some ass.
