Bryantos
I know alot of people havn't heard of these, but they are made here in Jacksonville, FL, and a local hookah bar uses them. Awhile back, a hookah bar stopped selling bowls because they said they didn't have coals, but in reality two friends of mine that know people who work there said that they had coals, but they wern't using them because of complaints that people were throwing up and getting naucious. I thought that was complete rubbish... until now.I was smoking like I usually do, and smoking flavors I have before, but with different coals. These hookology coals, first of all, are fucking disgusting for the first 5 minutes off the smoke. All you taste is coal. I seariously mean the only thing you will taste is nasty as fuck from the coals. Even if they are completly ashed before you put them on. After a few hits, the taste is almost completly gone, but me and my girlfriend were getting extremly sick afterwords. She almost threw up outside, and my stomach starting feeling really weird, and when I finally got to work I almost chunked it up inside my truck. I've never thrown up from smoking... ever. Thats the closest I've ever came.Just having you guys on a lookout for these coals. Don't buy Hookology coals!

kornkitten42
Dude, I have used hookahology coals for years and never had a problem. They are a pretty damn good in my opinion, on top of that the busiest hookah bar in jax uses them. (The Casbah) and they still use them as of yesterday, and they are fine. They don't have a horrible smell, or bad taste when ashing, They don't have crumbling issues. I think you either A. You got a bad batch, B. You didn't let them ash long enough, C You are refering to an actual "QL" which i know nothing about , or D something else.Hell I just used a batch yesterday at the casbah and it was fine. An amazing smoke.EDITED TO ASK* Are these the silver square japanese coals? as you put "quicklights" in your review and I'm just wondering. I can only vouche for the hookahology jap coals being awesome. Edited January 12, 2008 by kornkitten42
kornkitten42
Sahara's hookahs make me sick sometimes. Not sure if it's their tobacco, or their coals. I know more than 50% of the time they throw the coals on the bowl before they are even LIT! They are still sparking and it makes me want to hurt them! They also don't start the hookah

Bryantos
QUOTE (kornkitten42 @ Jan 11 2008, 07:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>EDITED TO ASK* Are these the silver square japanese coals? as you put "quicklights" in your review and I'm just wondering. I can only vouche for the hookahology jap coals being awesome. To answer, these are quicklites, but they take forever to light. There is no firework effect, and yes they are "Japonese" style. Despite being QLs, they take almost 8 to 10 minutes to be completly ready. It seems to me that you think these and the ones you're using are different. They're not. They say "Quicklite" coals on the box, and I'll take a picture of them tomorrow and post it up.Also, if this is a bad batch, then they're being very consistant with bad batches, as the hookah lounge I mentioned, The Casbah, has had this same problem, and didn't have another order for weeks. They are still using them like you said, and they still taste like ass there aswell. I was just there this past weekend, and a waitress brought out new coals. I was the first to take a hit, and of course as I mentioned it tasted like straight saggy nuts. However after I passed the hose and warned my friend the taste of the coal subsided, like I mentioned in my first post, and he said he tasted nothing. Alas, when I took another pull the coal taste was mostly gone, again like I mentioned above. You can use them if you want, but I was just informing other members of there shittyness. Please don't think that I'm not using them correctly, because I'm not. Now to answer you're little letters:A ) I couldn't tell you. I just know the coals are shit.B ) They were ashed completly.C ) They're QLs, but you just think they're not because they take ages to light. Read the little silver letters under the logo on your box.Oh, and these coals were (Prepare for inflated Casbah prices) $15 for the box. They used to sell 3 kings, but they were either out, or stopped carrying them. I heart 3K. Edited January 12, 2008 by Bryantos
kornkitten42
Um.... Hey bryanto's or whatever......Like I said I didn't know if they were "quick lights" - ie a hookahology version of goldens/ 3 kings, you know... discs, and black? You know, what 99% of the hookah world consider a quicklight? ****** Hookahology coals, are considered jap coals... so I was going off of your incorrect review, in the review thread... , so i'm sorry i got confused by your misinformation.******Those with the silver coating, squares, ETC are considered JAPs, they dont have the "fireworks" because they are not actually quick light...... Yes they take a while to light, because you need a constant heat source. Like a torch, or a coal burner. ALL japs require constant heat and a few minutes to light. As for me "reading the box" I know what the damn box says. Dude, who the hell pissed in your cheerios? I wasn't rude to you or whatever, I was stating my opinion on a brand of coals that I like to use. I also like to use Exoticas, easy lites, goldens..... They switched from 3k because people were getting sick off of those too btw....Apparently you might not be using them correctly if you think that japs have a firework effect similar to Disc quick lights..........*edited to add, they stopped carrying 3k again......* Edited January 13, 2008 by kornkitten42
