Do Wind Covers Make Coals Last Longer?

Recommended Posts

I have been thinking about ordering a phunnel and a wind cover, right now I use a combo bowl which it seems noone here really likes, but it has saved me many of burnt carpets. biggrin.gif But anyway I noticed that when I have the combo bowl closed coals usually last me about 15-25% longer, so I was wondering does the wind cover do the same? Another plus of this is I usually only use one coal, and I used to have a heat issue (way back when I just used the egyptian bowls that come with everything) but once I got the combo bowl, it seems that the bowl traps in the heat and I no longer had the problem, even tho the combo bowl is about the same size as the Egyptian bowls.

So does the Wind cover make coals last longer?

and does the wind cover trap in heat?

It does trap in heat, it can help a lot in strarting up shishas that require a lot of heat without running the risk of burning the tobacco. As far as making the coals last longer, maybe someone else can help you out with that.

i find mine last the same time, but I also use less coals when I use a windcover. now if you smoke outside and it is windy or a nice breaze then it could make them last 5 min longer because less air is making them cook

I usually smoke inside, especially now being that its cold out but there is a definate change with the combo bowl lid up or down, I just started thinking about it again, because I was smoking a bowl and forgot to put the lid down, next thing I know the coal is burned out about 45min into the bowl (3kings) and normally they last about an hour sometomes even longer if im not hitting it as much.

Even indoors it can help the coals last longer. The more air flow over them the faster they burn and faster they die. Now unless theres no air blowing around your room then a windscreen helps even indoors. And yea with a windscreen things get hotter, which means less coal, with lasting longer its a damn good way to save on coals.
