The Hoses People Forgot

Recommended Posts

Its been a while. but sheesh it seems as thought the mighty Mya hoses have been replaced as the common favorite. I even saw one site that would "change out the stock hoses for our customers" on a my hookah... i mean come on!! I got my first mya hose back with my QT, over a year and a half ago, and the hose is still standing, and one of the best smokes ive ever gotten.

Am i really the only one here who still feels there some of the best hoses around? Ill say my next hose purchase is going to be the wide hose. I have always wanted one and want to get one here soon. Used one back at the DFW hookah party, and man was it awesome.

I love MYA hoses! Can't beat the flexibility of them and their overall good performance. Many people gripe about them being washable and rusting out but it is the nature of damn near every hose to rust out eventually. They are meant to be replaced regularly anyway. Great hoses for the price.

They are the only hoses I own and I've never had a problem even after rinsing them after each session. I've smoked from a wide hose and it was amazing (although I don't own one). This forum falls in love with a product and it's all the rage for a certain time. Remember when every other post was about Tangiers? Now it's KM pipes and Nammor hoses.

they are good as long as you hang em up after each use. people don;t like them b/c they leave them wrapped up around the hookah and the condensation from the water rusts the inside. plus a lot of people get "mya" hoses from local shops that are really fake myas and they are crap after 2 months

Yup, one of the threads on here right now about identifying a hookah i swear has a knock-off mya hose. See ive used the same for over a year and i always hang it up to dry after each smoke and havent had it rust yet. I wash it when i give my hookahs a good scrub, and just run lemon juice/water through it and then make sure to fully dry out the inside.

i didnt thnk you could wash them..

Call me crazy but ive washed mine more times then i can count. As long as its dried right, no rusting and hose deterioration. About the only problem ive had with a mya hose are the basic ones, without a metal tip. After a while the end of it can start feeling weird; kinda like the finish is coming off.

But ive got at least 6-7 mya hoses floating around and we dont use anything else around here any more.

I'm sorry ladies. But for each MYA fanboy post there is someone who has cut open one of these hoses
and found they are shot to shit.

Washing and drying a hose after each session is just, potentially, masking the problem. Either way you cut it - that hose will have some degree of rust, and that is going to be heading into your lungs... Hmmm Tasty.

Only the nammor & the 'Home Depot (B&Q for the british lads)' Hoses have been shown to be truly washable.

However MechAnt makes a valuable point about hoses being a naturally replaceable item anyways. Which is a good point. But if someone sells something as 'washable' and it ain't then that's just shitty business practices. Something MYA has refused to respond on. Numerous times.

It's the principle rather than the practicality of the issue.

Mya Washables are truly washable, I've done it.

You dont wash it after every use, that's just foolish. I wash it after every....ohhh....8 uses or so. That gets me a good month per washing. Hasnt failed me yet and even if it does, its only 8 dollars compared to the 20+ dollar Nammor. 3 Myas per 1 Nammor, I think the Myas are more economical, even if they arent "the shit."

Edit to add: Make sure to hang it up after you wash it, gives the moisture a place to go rather than hanging in a coil of the hose. Edited by Bulldog_916

i just cut my Mya hose open yesterday...
If you have seen The Orphanage and seen that old ladies face after her... unfortunate accident... thats what it pretty much looked like. wink.gif
That's 3 uses. That's all i used them.
Nammor last you as long as you keep them up. You wash them regularly, clean out the mouthtips, maybe put a cover on one... that's the last hose you'll ever need.
Plus they just draw better than normal hoses... so you should buy them strictly for that quality. tongue.gif

Was it the washable hose or the regular leather Mya? I could see if it was the regular Mya, but the washable has been nothing but good to me after AT LEAST 12 smoke sessions and now 2 washings. Gonna be out smoking with it again here in about an hour or so.

Yes, washable. It was rusty and dirty and resiny.

The main thing about washing a MYA hose is hanging it up after washing. If you have it, blow air thru it from the cans or an air compressor. That's the key.

Exactly, used my dad's compressor. smile.gif

I love my MYA as well, I basically only use 3 hoses in my house (2 nammors and my sweet MYA). I love the flexiblity of the puppy, but mine seems to be at the end of it's poor life. It's starting to rust.... time for another MYA. Just wish they wouldn't rust (but the hose is a year old and Hard used :})

I kinda wish Nammor's would be as flexible - that's my one major complaint for them.

The hose I wish I could forget was the POS that came w/ that Junior Mini junk - hated that hose. HATED! Edited by lazria

  • 2 weeks later...
I've been using my nammor hose for almost 6 months now and thought I'd order a couple of mya hoses for those odd days when I can't be bothered to clean out my nammor hose. Anyway, I smoked using my mya hose today and probably got the same amount of smoke I would get with my nammor! I still don't think the myas are washable though so will probably stick with my nammor but apart from I don't see much difference in the amount of smoke it gives out. Edited by Muhammad
