EvansLight
Some of ya might remember when i got the acrylic hookah from MNH for doing there website. Well since i got it it has never had an "amazing" smoke, but decent ones. We always thought where the stem screwed into the base was where the problem was, but low and behold where we wrong. I was doing some hookah rigging (changing over hose ports from QT to Acrylic so i can smoke again!!) and after getting the ports moved over (making the acrylic a 1 hose with purge) i noticed it wasn't air tight. So i went ahead and did some checking, and found it was in the base, but not the threads. The metal part up top where the threads are, is not sealed onto the acrylic perfectly. This causes air to seep out from under the metal part. If ya dont get what i mean:Hell looking at it carefully, i can actually see where the seal is broken under the metal portion that extends down the top tube like portion of the acrylic XD dangit, was hoping to smoke today DUCT TAPE TO THE RESCUE!! EvansLight
Oh i love it otherwise, and hope i can either fix it or get a new base. It looks more like a manufacturing boo boo but its been quite some time since i got it... so i doubt there will be any replacing going on XD Just never noticed what it was before. Looking at it a bit more it looks like somehow a bit of whatever sealed the metal screw top on was blown out from underneath the screw top somehow. Its not a broken seal, just no seal at all. r1v3th3ad
I posted in another thread about cleaning with my hookah...I put mine in boiling water due to heavy tar etc... from not being used or cleaned in a long time. Broke seals in same spot and eventually the part the stem screws into completely came off.Go to an auto parts store and pick up JB Stick. This will hold with temps upto roughly 400 degrees F. It fixed my problem in no time. One issue is moisture might affect it(if you're one that leaves it in there for a few days). I usually replace my seal once every four months or so because it likes to die out. you only need a lil slit off the JB Weld to fix it, so you can get a good 30+ repairs outta one tube. Make sure your fingers are wet for the kneeding/mixing and work fast. It has a 3 min. life until it really starts to set. Don't get it really moist either when mixing. Any other questions, message me and I can help. I tried a lot of things and this is the only that worked. It is non toxic and as far as my research shows safe...I also can report I haven't grown a third arm...Good luck.
thecoalition
with the acrylics the easiest way to repair them is to use some epoxy or even silicone caulk if you cant find epoxy. both are easy though
Victim026
I fixed one with the same problem with some hot glue, it's still holdin strong for my friend 8 months later...
EvansLight
lol i smoked out of it today, wanna know my fix? DUCT TAPE!!! It holds the world together
r1v3th3ad
I'd just be worried about toxicity...once the hookah heats up, whats to say that the glue isn't affected and possible vaporizes? I don't know much about duct tape. All I do know is "If ya can't duct it, fuck it"
EvansLight
Well besides the fact i fill my base up with ice and damn near freeze it before smoking, as long as the stem is at least a good 6 inches long, the heat from the coals will never get to it that far down. Hell even a shorter stem shouldnt be a problem.
Hookah Master
my acrylic did the same thing. The metal piece that is attached to the base is only connected by super glue... mine broke within 5 months. I just used electrical tape and it did alright... then i just took that metal piece off and made a electrical tape grommet. That worked for about a month... then it got thrown away. So when it comes to quality the mya acrylics are horrid but durable !
thomas
A chunk of glass came off my QT but I think it is repairable, is there any adhesive that would put the glass back together? cannot burn or let off bad chemicals.. epoxy?
