habanahookah97
I've been smoking hookah for a few years until I came across this sight, and was amazed to find posts of people saying they've had hookah sessions hours upon end, while my usual session lasts about 45min. I'm wondering if there is a superior technique or tobacco to what I'm using. I use Pharoahs Hookah tobacco, have a Mya QT, use a mya bowl, and 3 Kings large coals. What I usually do is pack it relatively light, which results in an easy pull and lots of smoke and flavor. I use foil, and punch a hole in the center surrounded by 5 or 6 other holes, and place the fully lit coal off center and rotate it around. My questions are: Is Pharoahs tobacco any good? Should I break the coal up? How many coals does a bowl usually go through before the tobacco needs to be changed? And, what is the best method I could use to ensure I have a long, enjoyable smoking experience? Thanks!
iamscott06
The phunnel would ensure a long and ejoyable smoking session. If you go with the phunnel, pack it up good, throw on 2 33mm kings on opposite sides, holes along the outside and one in the middle and your good to go Never really had Pharoahs tobacco but i would recommend Al Fakher, Starbuzz, Tonic. Most juicy brands do good in the phunnel. Just expirement alot Good Luck!
PhishPhood
Well, first get a phunnel bowl. It will hold the juice in and keep it wetter longer. Next, what kinda coals are you using? If its QL's I use 1.5 at a time and rotate often. I've never had that tobacco so I cant weigh in on that one.. Also if you dont like phunnel bowls get a large bowl that holds maybe 20grams of tobacco. It also could be your light packing of the bowl. I dont pack mine too tightly, but i do make it heap a tiny bit then pack it down a bit. I get good sessions out of this. I had one last night that lasted about 1.5 hours with 3 of us smoking it constantly.

r1v3th3ad
For me, if I pack it lightly and use the smaller coals, two stacked(leaning tower) or even just one, my bowl lasts(changing charcoals as it goes on) for a good hour and a half holding the flavor strongly all the way through...I use a aluminum screen. Usually 4-6 coals or so if I'm using double stack on the smaller, or if I go single it varies rounds in the area of 6...Now if I toss it in fluffy and lightly, then pack it, and repeat until it is full and tight, I have a bowl that lasts me at least three hours, but only strong flavor for the first hour. Lots of coals for this...It also depends on what type of shisha you are using, I'm currently working primarily with Hookah Hookah. Considering the extra juiciness, it takes a good 1/4 of the life of one charcoal to get it going, thats why I usually start it off with a double stack.Hope this works for ya. Rani
I find the flavor changes after adding a second coal and keeping the bowl going. Though a kind of funky packing technique I've had a bowl last 4 hours, but again the flavor changed after adding the second coal. So I made a conscious decision to pack lightly, and smoke only through one coal. When that coal is dead I pack a new bowl and start over. If I'm looking for a long session, I'll pack extra bowls and set them aside to pop on when the first one is done. Although really it only takes me a minute to repack and foil. It also seems like the pre-warmed bowl gets going much faster and draws out more nicotine so it's a stronger buzz - if that's what you're looking for.'Rani
zeppyrkr
its not the tobacco, ive used pharoahs actually i really like it , but yes from what i hear phunnel all the way i just ordered mine. otherwise heat management, just make sure to keep moving it, i usually use one QL at a time, they last about 35-40mins, throw on another one and another 35-40min of smoking. im no pro though, but even with a normal bowl you should be getting more like an hour.
