lxjenkins
I have a hookah that that isn't exactly airtight and I have a feeling it's because the grommet that connects the stem to the base is a bit loose. What do you suggest I use to make this fit a bit tighter?
staygone
Duct tape or black plumbing tape stuff, maybe teflon tape also. Wrap that around your current grommet till desired tighness is obtained. I used that on my old stems and it works great.-QM Edited January 16, 2008 by QuiltedMaple
Canon
wrap it around the metal instead of the grommet. much tighter that wayalso electrical tape works well.
Gold Wing Gunner
I use some all natural wax stuff, thats made for your lips. The first time after you put it on your stem will be kind aluby and want to fall out, but once it dries in place it makes a nice seal.
The Devils Playground
I have seen 2 things with my distributors. #1 tape between the gromet and the actualt shaft it rest on. He used electrical tape. #2 was a but load of rubber gromets that looked like clear rubber bands. I used the rubberband grommet method on my Mya I built for the shop and I will more then likely go to tape here also. It just had alot let flex. For a shorter hookah either could work well but for a taller one the Tape all the way.
Milk With Pulp
I would say, wrap the tip of your hose in electrical tape and teflon tape and make it thick enough to sit in the seal correctly, if worse comes to worse, remove the seal and apply enough electrical tape till desired seal is acquired.
