jayson
Well, it could be worse. But it sure burns me bad.My grandfather was in WWII, and he was sent to Africa prior to landing on Normandy. While fighting "Gerry" down there, he ran across a hookah shop and, since the owner had long since fled, he stuffed a hookah in his pack and marched on.I found a picture that was taken of him a decade or so ago... and it was pretty cool because there he was, 75 years old and 50 years since he snatched it, still smoking the hookah! I asked my mom about it, and she wondered where it went after he died. Since she didn't know, I gave my aunt a ring and... lo and behold, she took it from his house after he died and sold it on ebay for a Buy it Now price of $20 shipped.Now... I'm seething. Talk about nostalgia! All gone. Fuck greedy family members. It probably wasn't worth much, but to me it would have been priceless.

Citizen's_Hookah
That would have been one vintage hookah. Wouldn't you have to clean it up really good to use it?
RayVer
I dont think it was more of a matter to clean it up and smoke it but rather to treasure it with all the memories tied in from his grandfather.
erufiku
Yeah, just imagine it sitting in the living room... Anybody asks, you say it was your grandfather's - he got it during WWII. Wow, any luck finding the person who bought it?
RayVer
ebay purchasing records are removed after 6 months of the auction...so unless it was sold in the last 6 months there is probably no way of finding out.unless... if the person who sold it used a paypal account which stores the information for much longer. Rani
QUOTE (RayVer @ Jan 16 2008, 06:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>ebay purchasing records are removed after 6 months of the auction...so unless it was sold in the last 6 months there is probably no way of finding out.unless... if the person who sold it used a paypal account which stores the information for much longer.I believe I recall something about an eBay "ask for" option. You put on there what you're looking to buy and people check it now and then or it automatically refers you when they post up what you're looking for. I'm not totally sure about this, but I buy imported vintage kimonos all the time from eBay and it seems to me I came across this function at one time or another. Check and see if it exists. If your aunt shipped it insured, you might be able to trace it through the post office as well.'Rani
