My Hookah Story

Hey everyone, I'm new on here and my name is John but you can all call me Citizen.

A month ago my neighbor/friend and I bought a used hookah for 30 bucks and we were supposed to take turns hiding it in our houses each week. We went through 5 sessions (only sessions I've smoked) when it was my turn to hide it in my house but I told him to keep it for an extra day to make some room in my closet. Well, his father found out and took it away and now he's somewhat disappointed in his son and he has become an asshole lately (luckily we made a pact to not rat each other out)

Anyways, after session 5, I was beginning to regret doing it and I was thinking of a way to sell my half to him but then when his dad found it I promised myself not to smoke again.

Today my friend told me a friend's friend from Israel is gonna bring him a fancy one with a case and all and I'm thinking about smoking with him every 2 weeks or so

he may have been disapointed because he was hiding it.

hiding things from your parents is never good.

Yea i feel ya on that. Back when i got my first hookah i used to hide it from my grandfather. It might have been something he kinda guessed i did, but i wasn't until a few months ago, back before i had my little sebatical from smoking, that he actually saw me smoking. He just shook his head and was disapointed at what i was doing XD But i still havent let it stop me, i love it and its my choice.

when i got my first hookah, my friend came over on the first night that i had gotten it and saw us smoking it on the deck, sook her head and said well i hope your not smokng anything illigeal out of that and if the cops come ill never forgive you about this. even though i explain it was tobacco she was really skepical about it, now a year and a half later shes ok with it so just give it some time and be honest about it

Well, I always wanted to learn how to blow Os and this was when I was smoking cigs and cigars. I was lookin around online and all I saw was people smoking hookah who were showing how to make Os.. A day later, I decide its time to take a drive to the hookah bar (which is over an hour from my college) at around 10pm. Me and one other guy went. We both loved it so much, we sat for a few hours smoking. Then i bought one the next day and smoked about 5 bowls that day.

my cousin had one set up and my aunt and uncle were doing it also, my mom was disgusted by it, this was a few years back and i didn't quite understand or have any desire to do it. then this past summer me and my gf were bored and she told me how her friends had been going to the hookah bar, i remembered back to my cousins house and all of the sudden wanted one, looked online for a few hours and by the end of the day i had ordered one. Then the next day went to the hookah bar, thank god i liked it lol. but now i have 4 hookahs and find myself smoking just about every day, i remember when i first started i thought i would never be able to blow o's and such, ive now mastered o's, maybe not mastered but i can do them for sure, well keep smoking and by the way im 20 and can't find it in me to tell my mother, she would hate me, shes just weird like that.

well i started smoking hookah about 2 years ago at lounges. spoke to my mum about it, she kinda accepts it. recently bought a hookah, my mum hates it and atm im smoking cherry nakhla..

We started our smoke shop just over 1 year ago Homeless. Yes as in Wife screwed me and lost everything. Well to make a long story short I was sleeping in my moms smoke shop figuring out what happened and decided to start my own shop. I did a little research and sure enough decided Hookah was the way to go. Well here it is some 16 months or so later and we becamse the biggest Hookah shop in Vegas smoke daily with customers in the shop and are loving the lifestyle. And now you know why i am so greatful to the hookah community. It got us back on our feet and has made a few really good friends along the way along with countless associates ( people that are like friends but not quite that close) and its been happy days since.

I don't think my dad would endorse me consuming hookah tobacco and I'm 16 and I don't know about the laws here. I remember when my friend and I walked into the only hookah-based shop in the city and I was amazed at the beautiful hookahs and numerous flavors the shop provided. I wanted to buy a new hose but the lady told us there would be better hoses in a week.

if colombia is like ecaudor (which is where i picked up hookah smokin) they might have a law technically on the books, but it is 100% not enforced. i saw kids who looked about 12 go in to a store, buy a 40 and a pack of smokes. haha.

anyway, my story is, i was in a study abroad program in Ecuador, and a bunch of people were from chicago, who had all been to lounges before. so we went on a hunt for a lounge in Quito. we didn't have to walk but like, 2 blocks before we found one. there are TONS down there.
so when i came back i looked up the local lounge in Arvada (Denver suburb). went a fwe times, but it was $6 per pipe for 2 people (and doubled every 2 people). well, being that i was paying like, $3 per pipe/unlimited people at the expensive place in quito, i decided to buy my own.

There are some of those corner stores that sell cigarettes to kids if the kids throw in a few extra coins heh.

But here where I live (Barranquilla), there is only one hookah lounge and I found out at school that minors can't go in (I wouldn't go in anyway seeing as they charge $20,000 pesos (10 dollars) for each session.

I started off in May when my friend asked me if I wanted to go to the hookah bar with her and her room mate. I figured it was a little before my 21st, might as well live it up. Went to the only hookah bar that you can really park at (the others are downtown, and you guys in big cities know how hard it is to park in the city). Place called the Aladdin Cafe. Pretty atypical spot that plays whatever the popular music is. We smoked outside got 2 hookahs, 1 loaded with raspberry (cementing my love for that flavor), the other mixed with apple mint (also quite enjoyable). One of the girls that I was with was always telling me she got a buzz from it but I never believed her. I didnt get one my first time. Hell, I didnt get one till I packed my own bowl in December. I liked the experience, and it wasnt addictive (as I thought it would be, you know, tobacco myths).

The second time I did hookah was in late November at the same bar and I was looking at buying my own hookah since they had them available. By then I had been a lurker on the forums and better knew how to manage the hookah. I waited a couple weeks then picked up my own hookah. Been in love with the activity ever since.

Bah, I know it's against the rules, and I understand why... liability.. but... lets be honest. A good chunk of us were smoking cigs\stogies\hookah long before the legal limit. Hell, I smoked my first cigar with my dad like 4 years before the legal limit. I'm not saying that the post is ok (or its a good idea to make known online that you are underage in your country and using tobacco) but I am saying.. lets get off our high horses. Someone always ends up attacking anyone suspected of being illegitimately using tobacco. Let the mods deal with it.

My first time smoking the Hookah pipe was back in high school, during the summer. I was working at a music camp with another friend (awful job, but thats a story for another day) from high school, and we happened to make friends with a Canadian girl of Ukranian descent who was in the possession of a hookah pipe. We smoked it a few times between Cuban cigars at the end of a long stressful day.. and the rest is history.

I stopped being secretive about anything I was doing when I moved out from my moms 5 years ago... Mom doesn't like me smoking, Dad smokes with me whenever he can. I don't hide really anything from them... I'm an adult, and if they can't respect my ability to make my own decisions, well, its their own damn fault, they f*cked up somewhere along the line.
I'm not going to lie though, telling your mom you can't talk because you've had too much to drink is.... awkward, to say the least.

March is Vacation so call me a few days in advance so I can try to make sure I am in Vegas. I am not sure what days we are going yet. Theres 2 conventions in Vegas that month also. But sure would love to show you the shop and smoke some bowls of Mintos.

I guess my story isn't that exciting but I'll tell it anyway.

My cousin got me into it a few years ago, he is a real lady killer and his typical date was a nice fish dinner that he made, hookah, two bottles of wine, nice music, and a great flat.

thanks to him, got my first hookah in Istanbul on a trip there, I thought the bigger the vase the better the hookah. Got some 250g boxes of Naklah there too.

Took it all home, couldn't get it to work, everything was tasting (if I was lucky to get any smoke) like burnt leaves.

Two weeks of internet searching and some help from a local hookah shop made it work, with a new hose and better tobacco.

Well, it was exciting at the time, I learnt alot from it.

Bilal ( Billy) from PYH just stopped bby for a couple hours to chat and drop off some stuff to us.

We are always happy to meet people from the forums in the shop.

I need to make a march calander so i know when everyone is coming in so I can be here in March on the right dates.

I am taking a 3 day Vacation in March and going to so Cal so I can get a couple days away from here but also to meet everyone from LA to San Diego.

I am sure I will brng back new toys on that rip and a butt load of insider info. lol

When I was wrapping up my junior year in high school, still 17 at the time, one of my co-workers at this pizza place snuck me and my buddies that also worked there into the lounge I still go to today. I ended up buying my own after spending so much money on cover to get into the lounge, and now have little get-togethers with my friends. That's my story.
